I put marble chips on one side of my pond for that reason .To highlight the palm plant The rest has black mulch
Yeah, I decided to use rocks instead of mulching each year. I like the look better and it definitely helps to keep the debris out of the pond.

Here rock is good for winter but the summer heat burns up plants .I like the rubber mulch but it is expensive and heavy rains we get wash it away real easy .On a different note everyone knows I did my decks over and built new pergolas and well I bought behr stain in transparent cedar color .Well it goes on darker and seems very waxy like and you have to stir every time you put the brush in your paint bucket .It separates really fast and you can't overlap the slightest bit .I don't think I will be using it on the decks.Plus you need to put it on very thin or or it looks terrible ,I will show my boo boo's also .I should have went with olympic elite .I will upload pics ,At least some of my boo's are hidden .No pro here but oh well

First lily of the season and thank you to @addy1 for giving it to me a few yrs ago. For some reason the first ones are always a little ragged looking and then as they get more blooms they get better looking. Might be cuz they are not in any soil, just growing in the water.
