Thank you! We built the system around that Japenese maple. It's over fifty years old; planted in 1963 by the original property owners.

Whoa! That is a fantastic story too!

My pond is in the holiday spirit, decked out in green for St. Patty's Day! ;)

This is the second year in a row that I haven't had Tony & Carmella return to my pond in the Spring. I suspect that one of them was the victim of duck season.

Gosh I love to see everyone's pond and yard come to life... spring is such a great time of year!

And I wanted to add that we have several fancy goldfish that stay in our pond year round and do just fine, even with our big koi. They just move at their own pace. One of them will disappear for days at a time and then suddenly there she is again. We've been certain she was gone for good more than once! I'm guessing she hides in the rocks - not sure if she's escaping suitors or if she gets in there and it takes her a while to find her way back out!

Ok, the pictures are a few days old but I am slow to upload. ;) Did a preliminary cleaning of the algae out of the stream (full day of work and 10 gallons of fresh algae went into the compost, never mind how much I rinsed out of the mats). Pond gets to keep it's green coat though, I know that's some good stuff.

Chinese lobelia is popping up EVERY where! I put little sprigs in different spots to see what might survive and it all did. lol It's first winter, wasn't sure how it would do but winter was mild.
