I would really like a floating fountain one day. Would that be considered a surface aerator?

That is a surface aerator, fan-blade type from Kasco. They're really quite effective, and decorative at the same time. Easy to install, easy to remove and quite robust in their construction. Other types of decoratives are available. The one below must be situated so that wind doesn't blow the up-spray out of the pond (Thanks, Captain Obvious). Light kits are available with these units (at extra cost).

The constant rain in the last 5 weeks made my pond edge soft and water were leaking out all over the place, good thing I found that out before i lost all the water. then last week we had 75F and today we have 25 F... my pond got a little ice today.
I hope the cold kill string algae.. it's out of control!

I got a little ice on the pond this morning!!!!

I didnt have any hiding place for my fish (well I did but they never went there) so I saw them sitting in the bottom of the pond, frozen... i've never seen my fish like this (they hid under rocks in the old pond all winter) and I didnt get the whole count.. so I hope some of them just gooder at hiding (that's howmy son said 'better') ;)

It looks like a huge winter-resistant spider spun a beautiful giant web over your pond. I never notice your net in the summer, with all the amazing foliage camouflaging it.
I leave it up all winter Mr heron has visited in the snow.
