Funny you would ask, T'Man, but I originally had the liner folded way back, and THOUGHT I was putting the patch on the water side, not the ground side. Then I realized I put it on the wrong side, so I put another one on the water side. THEN, I thought, hmm ... maybe I should have used a bigger patch! So, I put a second page (bigger by about 2x) on the water side. So .... 3 patches for water to try to seep around, and I'm hoping to roughed it up enough and used the right amount of glue and then held the patch in place long enough and let it dry long enough ... we shall see!

Well I hope so, but this morning the water level seems to be down just a big, less than 1", so will watch it for this evening. Before, it was losing 3" within 12 hours. No extra wetness on the outside of the bog though, although I guess it might take a while to "build up" under the bog before getting to the outside. Will wait a few days before replacing the pea gravel still.

If you still have an issue, take the gold seal or the black goop and cover the edge of the patch well, water can be such a pita to stop leaking.

Got to get another tube of it today. I see where I need to move rocks at the top of the waterfall again, so will goop them again. It's leaking behind the rocks, but that doesn't matter, because I have liner behind that wall, draining down into the bog, and it can't wick out over the edge anywhere, so I'm not too concerned with that. But, would still like ALL the water to go down the waterfall instead of a small amount of it getting behind the rocks.

laughing ce, I will never have all the water going down the top of the rocks, most of it does, at least none goes out of the stream or ponds.

Well, I figure if I have to pull the bog liner again (pretty sure I'm going to have to) I might as well do the goop on the top of the water at the same time. At least this time I won't have to pull the filter out, just put the pipe over the waterfall farther down stream to keep the rocks at the top dry and try to divert the water from up there. I did read that PL roofing goop doesn't hold if more than 1/2" thick, so may need to do it in a couple of times but that's ok, too. Or, just goop it on, and let it dry in 60 days if necessary. LOL Water won't penetrate it, so it can take it's own sweet time to dry.

Whew I'm glad you found that hole CE and looks like you have patched it to death, lol! I hope you can get it just right so no water flows over the wrong spots and all goes right where you want it to. Glad your little friend came back

Well, I'm definitely sure (at least 99% now) that it is Aris, my turtle buddy from last year, that showed up yesterday. This morning, I saw him in his spot among the lilies across the pond, so I called to him and told him it was time to eat. I fed the koi out in the middle and he kept looking, so I tossed 2 pieces across the pond in front of him, and he went directly to them! Tossed a couple more pieces closer to me, and he came swimming for them, too. Yep, another turtle might have been scared at the food pieces hitting the water, but not Aris, he knew what it was and went right for it! I'm a happy girl!
Water seems stable this evening, didn't have time to get PL Goop, so will get it tomorrow, and just for giggles and so I feel more confident before I put the pea gravel back in, I'm going to pump the water back into the pond and pull liner up again and seal it with bigger patch of liner. AND, since I have extra liner left that I trimmed off, I'm going to double up on the bottom under the PVC pipe, and also along the side walls as well, so that hopefully no more rocks or anything else punctures it from the top/water side. That's my plan/hope that is!

THE LARGE YELLOW KOI IS FOUND!!!! Tonight, my son was here, came to have dinner with me for late Mother's Day, and gave me a new camera! Well, we were taking pictures outside (he was with his big fancy camera) and I noticed the hyacinths in the koi pond were not doing as well as the ones in the goldfish pond, so I picked up one of the netted circles from the koi pond and something was inside it wigging and thrashing around! There was my large yellow koi! I guess she jumped in there either to spawn (which I saw her being chased) or for whatever reason! That may be the reason the hyacinths were not doing as well, as the roots were not near as healthy looking in there, but I still put that ring in the goldfish pond. I'm thrilled! I went and looked again in the other netted ring in the goldfish pond, hoping and praying to find the fantail, but no luck.
And, we spotted a skunk running across the open field behind my house and way out in the field tonight. I've heard they were in the neighborhood, so it's possible she was the one that got my fantail. I've not smelled a skunk in the yard for months, though, so at least if she was around, she didn't spray at anything.
And, since I was busy visiting with my son tonight, and taking pictures and learning about my new camera (I'll be able to zoom again, among lots of other options!), I didn't get the bog repatched, although I think the patch has held just fine. I plan to drain it, put extra liner pieces inside the liner to keep the water from shooting at the main liner, and then filling it and putting pea gravel back in the following day. Draining and repatching will be quick and easy. I'll use a big piece of liner to glue to the hole that has been patched, just make it bigger than the last patch. That will make 4 patches on the little hole. LOL But, the main thing I want to do is add the extra pieces of liner in there for extra cushion from the PVC holes spraying against the bottom, since I have long strips just the right size.

It was amazing the lack of roots in that netted circle, compared to the netted circle in the goldfish pond! Wow!!! She really ate a bunch, but has been missing for about 5 days now, so I guess she had to eat something. :) I also wonder how many eggs she may have laid in there while she was in there, but I guess if a male was not able to follow to fertilize the eggs, then they will not hatch anyhow. Oh well! No worries, not planning to try to save any, just see what survives is all. Thanks, ladies!!!

Good deal ce! I put liner under my pipes, hubby said didn't need to do, me being me said doing anyways. That is a lot of water movement against the liner so why not protect it even more.
