I think I will just pull the filter container out before I fill it and turn it on it's side to see what is going on. The way I have it, I have to reach my hand through a hole that is about 5" dia to get at the end, and I didn't see anything in the way. I usually have to get both hands in from the side in back to 2-hand it to close it, and it's tight, so have to stretch to get to it with 2 hands. I hated this valve because it did that, they all did that, would stick the last little bit before locking all the way closed. This is the first time I've not been able to get it closed. Tried flushing and rinsing and everything, still same thing. I'll get it figured out, though.

Thanks, Sissy. I will try to make it more "natural" looking this time around. I have lots of different shapes as well as the flat flagstone to deal with. Still not sure if the lower pond will overflow to the large flat rock to the pond, but again, if it doesn't I may just improvise this time with the goop. I don't think I want to keep re-working the waterfall every year! That was hard work. I remember the waterfall being the hardest physical work I did from the whole pond build. I got an abrupt reminder today, too.

If the water tends to run way or another that you don't want it to, I put some of the black goop on the back of a small flat stone that matches the stone it is being put on. Stick it on the rock ...........the water is pathed the right direction.

Way to go CE...I like the way your fall layout is. It's nice to see what other people are doing to their established ponds. Right now, all I can think about is resting and waiting for my water to clear. LOL Keep the photos coming!

PL, I hope you realize seeing your pond build got me going today. I figured if you can DIG a pond in winter, I can sure rework my waterfall. :) It is hard work, the rocks are the hardest part to me. I could dig all day long, but not move those rocks, and the rocks I was moving were thin, not nearly as heavy and large as what you and others have! I have to get sizes I can handle myself. :)
You're right, Sissy, I wonder about attaching any rocks. Addy, if I use that goop, is it easy to remove if I want to relocate something, or is it pretty set and hard to get them apart once you use it?

It is not easy to remove, even if you peal it off you have some black stuff left. I think the goof off might remove it, but not sure. I would use only if you are happy with the look. That expandable foam might be a better choice. I just torn down a rock / pond wall that I had the rocks anchored with foam. It did come off, but it also held well. I have used it in the stream and water fall to direct water flow, that you can pry apart and scarp off, it does take some work.

OK, thanks for the warning. I figured as much, and never did it before, but I think if I get it where I like it this time, I will goop it at least at the top to direct the water over that first rock. After that it should flow properly. So, only a few rocks and stones will be secured together so that shouldn't be too bad. I make it so I can walk it so it's stable otherwise. Just need that water flowing over the rocks!

As I messed the the stream, liked the way the rocks looked, but the darn water went around, behind etc, So black goop and foam to the rescue. Now water flows down and over the 100's of rocks in that stream.

We did as Addy suggested and used alot of the black foam to seal the spots coming off the waterfall and my bog. That foam expands soooooooo much, but it was easily cut-off after it dried. I was afraid the water would run underneath the rock and I think using the foam really helped. Hubby also sealed the top rim (right underneath the weir) with the black goop.

Mine stays left alone, no desire to pull apart my water falls, stream rocks, all 85 feet of them. They are as they are.................... You gals have a good time rearranging the furniture.

I think I'm more in Addy's way of thinking, so will leave at least the top rocks secured to each other, which simply means the top flat stone with the stones on either side of it to direct the water down that stone. If that will get the water going in the correct direction, that's all I'll ever need to goop! Now, what is the stuff called exactly again, Addy? I'll put it on my list of things to get at Menards this week and have it for the weekend. I know you call it black goop (or maybe that's ME calling it that), but the proper name please, so I don't buy something that will put unwanted chemicals into the water. Thanks!!! (I looked and didn't have the name written down on my cheat sheet, but will do that when I get your response!)
