OK, here's the Aka Bekko, red with black markings .... right?

And a pic of the 3 larger koi. I messed up and put the smaller koi into separate buckets, so I could add some of my pond water to slowly acclimate them, and then the water got murky so you can't see their colors as well. They are really pretty, I'm very well pleased with my purchases, and it was so much fun choosing.

the red and white is not a Kohaku, too much underlying Sumi (Black) looks to be a Sanke, the black looks to be a Beni Kumonryu, Nice find, be aware that koi constantly changes, It gets more white usually in the winter, the beni(red) will show up more toward the end of winter to early spring. The yellow looks to be a Ki ogon but there is some underlying dark markings that could change to some matusba marking in the future,

Haha, Fishin, I kept editing my post, realizing I was naming them all wrong. LOL I think for now I'll just stick with red and white, red and black, etc. :) Thanks thought for clearing up the coloring. Yes, I think the yellow is going to change colors too.

Thanks, Taherrmann4! I liked him from the "previewing" pics, and was happy to get him/her. My sister says you should have a black koi for good luck. Well, I have one now. It is the largest of the fish I got, all at VERY reasonable prices. I was happy to drive the 3 hours to get them, and glad I learned about the battery operated aerators to use on the trip home. Going out to see if any are ready to come up and meet me again yet. Also bought a few new plants on way home, hyacinths that were blooming, lilly, lizards tail, and Hardy Water Canna.

water Hyacinths are in the pics, not water canna. LOL But they all look nice, You'll really enjoy that black Koi. It's going to do some changes so it might not always be black but if it is a beni Kumonryu your in for a treat, the changes they go through are amazing! They can be pricey if the dealer knows what he or she has. I got mine from ebay at 5" and it cost almost $100.

Countryescape what kind of rope are you using in the second pic?

Looks like the home depot floating rope that I use to corral my hyacinths, works great, and you can make it bigger as needed.

Fishin, you're right, I don't have a pic of the water canna, but I did buy one. :) The rope, Taherrmann is what someone on here recommended to keep plants gathered up in, and since my hyacinths were continuously clogging my skimmer, I tried it. It's simply "floatable" rope that you can buy at any Menards or Home Depot. I got it at local Rural King, like a farm and garden center. I just twisted 2 layers together, and voila, it floats! I also have 2 of those floating tube things for kids, they had them on sale for 99 cents this week, and put a piece of garden hose at each end and made a larger floating ring. I'm thinking about putting it over the fountain, to keep plants in the middle.
Also, that black is AMAZING already! Since he/she is stressed, you can see LOTS of white up from the belly, and on the head, and the red is much more distinct! I love it!!! I won't tell you the bargain I got, if he is a Kumonryu then .... :) He's about 8" and loving the plants already. UGH!!! Been watching them, what fun! I've seen each of the 7 I just bought, plus the goldies are intermingling with them as well. I'm in heaven, and it's hot as blazes here, but deck is almost in the shade, so very nice sitting and watching fish.

Yep, I thought it was you, Addy, that recommended the floating rope! BTW, I saw that they had probably 3-4 sizes of rope that all said "floating" on it! Just look anyplace that has rope, especially this time of year with boaters out, that's what it is likely geared for!

Haha, we were thinking the same thing at the same time! Yep, if you have a store that sells rope in bulk, by the foot, you will likely find it, unless of course you're in the desert and there are no lakes or streams close by. But, in KY, you have TONS of lakes! Good luck! And, it's CHEAP!!! Not as cheap as the 2 floaties I put together, though, but cleaner looking. I'll post a pic of the floaty things, too.

OK, here you go, picture of the 99 cent floaties from Menards (on sale this week), 2 of them, with pieces of old hose to hold them together! And, guess who is in the middle of the pic, eating food, and probably nibbling on the hyacinths??? Yep, that would be my star, Shamu! LOL

They even sell it in arizona, the floating rope. So being in a desert probably wouldn't matter.
