Ya, I think you are right Sissy. Rio is pretty tiny and eats like a mouse compared to the big puppies. Little Rio she love cheese too. I am going to have to put a bow on her head all the time so people don't confuse her for a Boy! :beaver:

Yep, little Rio looks pretty rough and tough, that's why people think she is a boy. But, we all know us girls can be rough and tough! Yep, I don't mind carrying water. I hauled 3 loads tonight (I use 3.5 gallon buckets, because I'm so short - 5' - and the 5 gal buckets went too close to the ground) so a total of about 18 gallons. I have a smaller tub that is heated, but didn't plug it in, as if they horses drink it all, it will run constantly. I'll just bring more in the morning. Hydrant still frozen. It opens, but pump area must be frozen or somewhere along the line it is. Shoot! Tomorrow is going to be sunny and 20's, so will have to hope I can get it working then. Not going to fret. Only will fret if I think the pump is frozen and will crack! That's an expensive item to have to replace. Guy coming in the a.m. to measure my windows and then I get to go find out how much they will cost. They sure are costing me a bunch right now with the amount of air escaping through them! So, figure it's a win-win situation, even if I don't want to spend that kind of money right now. Ho hum ....

Gosh I sure hope your pump isn't frozen CE. Once you get new windows that seal up really good you will sure notice the difference in the way the heat stays in better. Like you said it will save you money in the long run.

When I moved here, the pump was burned up. Had it replaced, and the first winter it froze and cracked. That's when I had that terribly built pump house, that was built on TOP of the concrete lid of the well! I didn't think it would have a chance of freezing up this year, with the new housing, and I have 2 heat lamps in there, but it seems like somewhere there is ice in the line. I will mess with it tomorrow. It cost me $250 to replace it the second time, and I do NOT want to have a third replacement!

Well lets hope that pump gets back up and running CE. Sometime life is a real pain in the pocket book!

If you build up you top waterfall up more and have an upper trough there, plus connect that little goldfish pond somehow, you could run one heater too keep both the ponds from freezing solid, and utilize the upper top waterfall stream for your horses to drink from ? :geek:

OK, first of all, Colleen, my ponds are in my backyard. The horses are not! :) Second, I have a huge 50+ gallon garbage container that the waterfall runs from, but it seemed to do nothing but chill the water more than do good. I'm trying to NOT have to run heaters as much. Unplugged the koi pond heater this morning, since it is going to be in the low 30's all day today. Also unplugged the goldfish pond heater. Can easily just plug them if/when needed.
The pump at the water trough worked perfectly last night, so I filled the tank. I break up the ice daily, and scoop out ice so the horses have open water at least an hour twice a day.
Meet Kea (pronounced Kia). Since I decided not to keep my black brindle female, because I wanted a solid black and white female, here she is! I had a deposit on a red/white male with the breeder, but when SHE found me Quincy, I was able to use the deposit toward a female instead. Win-win. So far, so good with little Kea. She will be the more traditional Boston, chunkier and broader, than my petite Denali. These pics were taken last night after we got home. Second pic is her laying next to me in my recliner, and Quincy, new male pup (he's close to 6 months old now) checking her out. Today, she is laying next to me in my recliner. I was going to take down my Christmas tree, but think I will cross stitch instead, since she can sleep and feel more secure next to me. :)

They are very cute puppies! I still have my tree up and I see that others in town still have trees still up, probably cause it still feels like Christmas with all the snow we got.

Sounds like you have your hands full with puppies, horses and everything. I got lots going on too with too many fish tanks, puppies, greenhouse and ponds. I need to get rid of some of the fish tanks cause it is hard to keep up. Worked to hard last night at work moving boxes and now shoulder is sore again.

Well it was just an interesting thought having horses drink from pond, but they would probably step in it and fall or something. Good thing probably that horses are away from icy ponds.

I have never seen Addy's live thread? How do I get there? Never tired to see it now that I have the new computer instead of tablet, maybe now it will work?
I took it off line, if you ask pretty please I will give you access for awhile, sort of boring right now, being winter.
