The excavators finished digging yesterday. That's one big hole! They did a great job building it up where it needed to be. I've resigned myself to needing a bigger liner though. His crew will install the liner in a week or so when I've had time to clean things up. There's quite a mess everywhere - a huge pile of dirt I'm in the process of shifting onto the fringes of my property and huge piles of rocks all over. I paid the excavators $1,000 for the day, and if I wanted them to clean up the pile of dirt and level the ground I'd have to pay for them to come back. I hadn't budgeted for any of this because like I said, I thought my neighbor was going to do the digging. Oh well, I don't really mind moving a pile of dirt.
I have a question. The laser level they brought didn't have a light. I wanted the laser level to find the future water level around the pond by fixing at the lowest point on the edge and going from there. Wouldn't a laser level without a beam be able to do that? It made excavating the beach and digging the hole for the skimmer difficult. There was too much guesstimating.
