My wife, the dog and I went backpacking this weekend to a state park in Eastern Ohio called Zelski. It is a state park and the weather was perfect the last two days high in the 70's and the low this morning was 43 degrees. We only hiked 5 miles the first day and 5.5 miles the second day so it was strenuous at all, we have to take it easy with the dog until we can work her up to going further. She does really well with the hiking and camping thing likes all the sights, sounds and especially smells, her nose works overtime on weekends like this. We went to this same state park a few weeks ago and did a different set of trails, this time it was a lot better. This time we had a nice campsite, and only had three other campers within about 75 yards of us, so you weren't camping right on top of each other. Plus the last time we had picked a nice spot to camp after getting set up about 30 minutes later there were 20 boy scouts who decided to camp right next to us, they were about 8-10 years old and soooo noisy that at one point I had to yell at them to keep it down. When I was a boy scout we were always told to have our quiet voices on when we were hiking and camping. The boy scout leaders didn't seem to have much control over the group as they were walking right next to our tent constantly while we were trying to go to sleep, I think this is just how todays youth are. Anyway our trip this time was awesome the leaves are falling and the trees were in full color. Here are a couple photos of our trip...and yes our dog has her own sleeping bag as she gets really cold easily... We also saw some cool mushrooms don't know what kind though.
