I used to take tourists out diving and snorkeling while living in Hawaii and 1 day in the van on the way to the beach, one of the people asked if Hawaii had a drug problem, meanwhile they are staring out the window. Turning around I see a helicopter dragging a huge bale of pot through the air. My response was "no problem, it grows great down here"... Lol

Sissy, pretty moth! Looked it up - Rosy Maple Moth.
I wonder about meth labs back there, with the explosions you have heard. Will be interesting to hear what it was, when/if they tell!
Congrats Mogsi and Mirka and baby Orrie! And, I'm pretty sure Lou's daughter had her baby, I saw it posted on FB! Congrats to Grandpa Lou, too! Penelope born last Thursday. He probably already posted it, I would guess. :)

First baby goldfish I've decided to raise out side the pond myself. I'm so lucky I have a fair amount of double fins their bellies are starting to pudge out. The adults in the pond are regular red body with white fin comets with a few shubbies and one big chocolate female. Really really excited to see what I get. I have bred and raised salamanders and praying mantises so pretty confident I'll have decent turn out and a ton of learning experience.

Try as I might koiguy, I'll never be a pond star :) (Bet they show some guy with a million dollar cottage on an island in the middle of Georgian Bay saying "yep.... Lake Huron is my pond.... what do ya think of it?") LOL .... kidding ;)
I wish I got that channel.... that's something I'd really love to watch.

Got back from two weeks on the east coast, only to find that a damn heron has been hanging around here. The neighbour's girl chased him away once, but he definitely got the two goldfish out of the turtle pond (mosquito control) and probably about half of the fish from the pond. (Had about 40 or so.) Hard to tell exactly, since they won't even come out to feed. I had a net over the pond, about 5' up and hanging down around the edges, but I guess he figured out a way to get at the sides of the pond anyway.

Bummer John. I have mine attached to my little wire fence below so he can't sneak under or push aside anything. You'll have to do some new rigging up of the net to stop that critter or he will wipe you out!

Oh man, Haro, that's awful!!!! Especially since you had it netted!!!! I have been seeing a heron lately on my farm pond in my horse pasture out in the middle (it's soooo shallow, silted in at that point) and keep hoping that he will stay there, I'm sure there are tons of fish and frogs for his enjoyment, or at least I hope so! So far so good, no visitors to my back yard. I know I'm playing with fire, to assume they won't bother my ponds, but have had the ponds for 3 years, and not lost any fish to herons so far ... crossing fingers AND toes now.
Ponder Koi, congrats on your fantail babies! I have to report that you are the FIRST that I know of that has raised fantail babies! You said you have Comets and Shubunkins, but you didn't say any fantails. Or, are you saying you have all fantails and they are red/white (Comets) and tri-colored (Shubies)? Either way, so very excited for you and wish you lots of luck raising the little buggers. So far, I've not even seen any baby goldfish or koi this year, and none last year either. Pretty sure I have too many predators (dragonflies, bullfrogs, turtles, and FISH!) for any of the eggs to make it, or the fry if they get the chance to hatch. If you start a new thread, post what you are calling it here so I can follow it! Thanks.
