LOL, Haro, I'm sorry, but that was just really funny! Why in the world would a raccoon poop so many times on your deck? He must have really had it in for you, or maybe he was working with the squirrel! "You keep them occupied cleaning up your poop while I build my nest and have babies in their barbeque grill." Now, I have to ask, what would you have done if the squirrel had babies in your grill? Huh???? I think that would have been soooooo cool! Now, starlings under my propane tank cap, that's NOT cool, but a squirrel building a nest in there, COOL! I think your deck must be a very special place ... poopy coons and nest building squirrels. :)

I have often wondered to myself if my koi are eating the rotten crap apples that fall into the pond? The strange thing is that the sticking rotten crab apples are falling everywhere, and if you do not watch, they fall on the head too, and then they squish when they hit the hair and the hair gets mushy too! They are just everywhere, all over the cobbled walk and all around the top and half of the middle ponds. Every day I sweep them off the cobble and pick them off the rocks that are all around the pond, but I have not seen any sticky rotten crab apples in the pond these days?? Strangely, since the water has warmed up, and the koi are getting very hungry, the little crap apples are no where to be seen in the pond water anymore? They have mowed down all the algae from the sides of the pond and the big bush of floating hornwort is hard to see any more and starting to all but disappear!

I have also long suspected that they eat the Goose Berries from the bush that overhangs into the pond, and the Choke Cherries too in the fall, that fall into the pond as well. I am starting to think koi are opportunists, and will eat anything they can fit into their mouth!

Oh, believe me, water, soap, Lysol, the whole works! I'm going to retrieve my power washer from my daughter's place shortly, and the entire deck is getting a cleaning. No, j.w., their T-shirts said "GPF" on them. You think Addy is trying to send me a message? Wouldn't a PM be easier?? :( Every time I tried to put a smily (or maybe I should call it a shitty?) on my post, the rest of the post would disappear!

lol John we are in WET ocean city, had a trip planned before this WET storm headed this way. If I send you a message you will know, it would be more than cute little animals living on your deck and in your bbq!:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: I hardly use the smilies so don't notice when they don't work

Seriously, Country, a whole bucket full! As for the squirrel question, I hear barbequed squirrel is delicious!! ;)

I think you made a smart move, Sissy. I've heard the pumps on those heat pumps (or the ones that use water to circulate under ground) are VERY expensive to replace, like $5,000-7,000 and they go out wayyyy too often. Just what I've heard, no experience on it.
I got right at 3" of rain this week, hoping that will be it. Both ponds tip top full, overflowing nicely as they are designed. First time I've noticed the koi pond so full, it was almost up to the bog water level, which is usually at least 4" higher than the pond. Learned the first year to make sure there is something in the way of the opening where the overflow is, in case the pond level rises, as the fish swam right into the bog one time. If I had not been home and the level went down fast, they may have been stuck with very little water until I got home. That was in the goldfish pond . They LOVE to swim against the flow, and that's how they ended up in the bog.

Plus it is spring CE, and fish like to move in the spring! One of the one pound sized koi slipped threw the open water way from the top pond and is now in the middle pond again. I heard him "plop" as he dropped from the top to the middle pond the other day. I will leave him there for a while then maybe move him later in the spring or summer back to the top pond. I should put a gate on that water way to stop them from getting threw,.....

reminder to stupid me /before you stand out side at 6 am in your PJ's and bare feet in the rain /check everything first .Laguna 2900 gph pump was putting very little water in the filter ,so i pulled out opened it up and cleaned the impeller and blew out the the hoses and checked the pump on the watt tester .Put it back in still hardly any water ,so I pulled the electric cord out of the cord protector after i figured out which 1 of the 3 was the right 1 (reminder to mark cords also ) and then pulled off hoses to trouble shoot it in the basement .But decided before that plug it in with no hose connected 1 more time ,well water came flying out of the pump .Checked hoses again and sure enough split off hose in waterfall had come loose and most of the water was going into the water fall instead of half to each 1 .So put hoses right and reconnected every thing and it was OK .Stupid rookie mistake that I paid for by getting wet and cold .Well can say 1 thing just came in and now the rain was coming down a lot harder .It was just a light rain when i was out there .I guess i will call it a senior moment :);)

THEY'RE BAAACK!!! Went out on the back deck a little while ago, and there it is AGAIN! :poop::poop:!! Two fresh piles, and it wasn't there last night. I put the live-trap out two days ago, with VERY tempting tuna cat food, but nothing has touched it. Damn 'coons!
Morewater; what are the chances of starting a chapter of your Raccoon Haters club in the Bowmanville area? :rage:
John
