Yah, I don't want anyone trying to put them in their pond this time of year. I'm still waiting for my friend to make a decision on selling me his 90 gallon tank set up. They need to be moved out of the 20 gallon tank soon.
I still like the idea of a birth control food....

Seems this was a good year for babies for me too. I have quite a few. I wonder how many will survive through winter? Those big black goldfish are still big and black and not turning orange at all. When they get to be 10" is it safe to say they will stay that way or is there no end to when they can turn?

When we had goldfish in the pond, I don't think we ever lost any babies to the Winter, just to the snapping turtle that was living in there without our knowledge. There are still over 50 baby koi in my pond and 50, or so, in a tank in the house. I can see the difference in the ones that are in the pond as they are more colorful and larger.
Just checked Craigslist for my area and the only people that are advertising Koi, don't even live close to this area. Maybe I'll have a good chance to sell them on Craigslist. Just don't want any weird people coming to my house......OH, I know!! We can meet them in the Big M parking lot to make the deal!

I sure hope I can sell some......that would be really great. They sure are getting nice and big. I'm hoping that our friend will still sell us the 90 gallon aquarium set up he has. We first spoke of it over drinks........many drinks.....hehe. Now he just wants to make sure his son, who is married and out of state, will let it go. He said he would let me know today, but hasn't yet.

I have had good luck with selling my extra fish on Craigslist. It paid for the pond rebuild we did this year as well as some new imported koi for the new pond. Once you get a couple of customers in your area they will be back for more!

I would just give my goldies away, the worse thing is trying to catch the suckers. That pond is big, deep, wide, long. I don't think I am close to an over load situation yet. Lots of water and filtration.

I would think jw, if they are reaching 10 inches in size they will stay dark. My dark ones were getting color around 3-4 inch size. I do have some that are just a golden brown.

Ironic, isn't it! Our ponds are overstocked with young goldfish/koi, we're thinking of birth control for them, and yet we take great pains to keep nature's population control away from our ponds. John

Well ya see John the problem is that the critters that would cull them for us can't eat just one, lol!

Hey addy sissy has a point. Ya know how when ya get in the pond and they swarm ya,well take a net and have a bucket close by also and hold the net down in the water maybe w/ some food pellets floating right above it and swoop them up. Bet you will catch some that way next Spring or whenever you end up w/ an overflow of them.

I was in Lowes a little while ago and they had this 6' tall skeleton ghost looking thing that would move, light up and talk or sing when you walked by.......I think you need something like that.
