* by definition the asterisk symbol is used to call out a footnote.
Seems to me that in these times of ours most every word or statement of importance whether written or spoken should automatically include an asterisk symbol. Why you ask? We face the answer every single day. Politics, medical care, education, safety, guarantees, freedoms and millions upon millions of other examples. Very little can be taken at face value because our society has seen fit to create footnotes that allow so much wiggle room. It has gotten so bad that yes can mean no, safety can mean danger, illegal can mean legal, immoral can mean moral, lies can mean truth and peace can mean war. Again, there are millions upon millions of other examples.
When will it all be put right*?
Lou, I so agree with you. Our society as a whole; for lack of a better word, is heading straight down the crapper! Not to offend.... And unfortunately this is true more and more.... We are surviving in a Godless world! And what I mean by that is, there are too many people that have gotten away from worship, fellowship.. GOD. When I was growing up, it just seemed like everyone went to church, and now, even living in "the Bible Belt", we are in the minority. Sunday, is just another day, I still can't get used to going to church in jeans  Kids now days are not involved in church activities, some barely know who our Heavenly Father and Jesus are, much less know what Christ did for us. I do not belong to the same Faith I did as a child and youth, the same Faith my family still belong to, but I am a strong Christian. These times are not going to get any easier I'm afraid, and all we can do is pray for our families and those around us to have the strength to stay strong in Christ. And be prepared for the coming times. May not be in our lifetime, or it might be tomorrow, who knows. But being prepared to take care of our families, and to protect our faith and what is ours, by any means necessary, from those who wish to strip us of it. That is what God would have us do. THAT, is how we put it right.

About 3am and I'm back online. No speech, no rants as promised. Health has turned sideways on me again. Won't bore you with the this and that's. Won't do any good anyway. Sure enjoyed Major Crimes new eposoide. Forgot to brag. Our son sold one of his songs to a big time record company a short time back. The company had him star in a music video this past Friday. Sure hope he makes a few green backs off the deal. Laughingly told him I would bring him towels and such when he makes it big!

Gonna try and go back to sleep.

Wow, what an adorable pup, Addy! She will be the love of your lives for certain!
I slept 4 hours last night, then awake from 2:30 until at least 5. Alarm went off, took me a while to realize it was the music I needed to wake up to, finally got up, showered, fed fish, etc. Wondered why aquarium lights had not come on yet, so figured maybe the electricity had been off recently (last night?) and moved the timers up. Sitting here at computer, I noticed it said 7 a.m. .... not 8 a.m. Shoot!!! Must have set alarm for 6 a.m., rather than 7, so now I'm an hour early, and I REALLY needed that extra hour of sleep, too. That's what I get for cutting my Ambien pill in half ... got a half night's sleep. But, I HATE feeling like I have to take it to get to sleep. Part of me says I need the sleep, screw the pill issue. The other part says to get off the silly things and deal with it. They say they are not addicting, but isn't this addicting when I can't stay asleep without them? My typical night sleep before using this sleep aid was fall asleep, wake 1.5 hrs. later, and then usually every 1-1.5 hrs after that. Usually went right back to sleep, but had started waking at 1-3 a.m. and not being able to fall back to sleep. Frustrating!!! Guess it's my age, but I'm sick and tired of not sleeping well. Funny thing is that when I don't get more than 4 hours of sleep, I typically am not sleepy all day, and never have been able to take an afternoon nap either. Some day ..... :blueflower:

Bad stuff going on in our neighborhood over the weekend. I think I posted here awhile back about the guy and his wife living on the property in front of our house across the road and through the trees. I called him Santa Claus cuz that's who he looked like. It had been first reported that he had died of a stabbing by a male relative and later changed to a fall where he eventually died of pneumonia. Well more had happened since his death. This weekend there was a murder or maybe two at the same house. Cops and detectives are all over that acreage now looking for evidence. Such a horrible sad thing to happen to a family. They all just fell apart and had been arguing over who gets the money from the will of Santa Claus (Jack Thorson)

Arlington-area man arrested in sister's death

By Eric Stevick, Herald Writer
ARLINGTON -- Detectives have arrested an Arlington-area man for investigation of killing his sister a few hours after their elderly mother's body was found at the foot of the basement stairs.

The man, 50, apparently was attempting to end his own life by breathing exhaust fumes from his car when a Snohomish County sheriff's deputy approached him Sunday morning with some questions, according to police reports.

The body of his sister, 53, was found a short time later under a blanket in a field near the man's home in the 13200 block of 240th Street NE. Deputies believe he hauled the woman's body there behind a riding lawn mower.

It was the second time sheriff's deputies had visited the home in a little more than 24 hours. The man had first summoned them about 5:45 a.m. Saturday when he reported finding his mother, 80, dead at the bottom of a staircase leading to the basement.

Her death initially was not believed to be suspicious, but now is being reviewed by the Snohomish County Medical Examiner.

Concerns were raised after the man's sister did not return from a visit to the home Saturday. The victim's son became suspicious when he found his mother's Subaru on the property, sheriff's office spokeswoman Shari Ireton said.

When he checked inside, he found receipts and other evidence that somebody had withdrawn money from his grandmother's bank account and apparently had purchased alcohol.

The man was drinking the same brand of booze and offered his nephew conflicting information about his sister's visit, according to the police report.

A neighbor reported hearing a loud argument on the property Saturday, including a woman's screaming "Don't! Don't!" Deputies also were told that the man was spotted later on a riding lawn mower with a tow strap attached.

Paramedics were summoned to provide medical assistance to the man after he was found in a car, the motor running and a hose carrying exhaust inside, the police report said. After police attempted to question the suspect, a sergeant searched the property and discovered a woman's body in a field near the house, Ireton said.

Formal identification of the body, as well as cause and manner of death, will be determined by the Snohomish County Medical Examiner's Office, Ireton said.

Major Crimes Unit detectives were called to the scene and, by piecing together evidence and witness statements, developed reason to believe that the suspect is responsible for his sister's death, Ireton said.

The man had attacked his sister in the past and there had been tension in the family over inheritance, according to the police report.

The man had what appeared to be fresh scratches and cuts. He asked for an attorney and did not provide detectives with a statement. He was booked into Snohomish County Jail early Monday for investigation of second-degree murder. He was being held on $1 million bail Monday afternoon but had not been formally charged.

Wow JW, not good. Have some similar situations here but not to that extent. Stay safe-
Just chase a red tailed hawk off one of the PVC poles around my gin-rin pond (NOT with a BB gun). Not the first time I have seen this and have found tears in the netting that is 6" over the pond. I guess in addition to adding netting around the sides to keep the fawns out, I will have to put netting back over the pond. Fry have disappeared so guess they were eaten by siblings or frogs.

Wow, death and destruction happening all around my pond friends! That's awful, JW. I sure hope that no further relatives will move into that house and maybe a new family can turn things around for your neighborhood. So sad about all the deaths there. And, now no one will get the inheritance! That's the saddest part ... well not the ones that were fighting for it anyhow. Geesh ... people are soooo greedy!

The short story is that it looks like I have 30 ppm nitrates in my tap water.

About a month ago when I moved the fish to the 1000+ setup the new tetra nitrate test kit I purchased had white crusties around the cap of bottle 1. It read high nitrates in my change water so I figured it was ruined. (all the test kits I had on hand had died of old age)

Today we got a API nitrate test kit and started testing. Was not too worried because we are doing a couple of big water changes a week. Nitrates were higher then expect so we tested the change water and it read 30 PPM! So we checked water right from the tap and it was 30 PPM.

Our water comes from deep wells into an aquifer. I was thinking it would take hundreds of years for the fertilizer to work its way down to it. I guess I was wrong about that too.
