Wow, I missed something in this thread. Where did you go to do all that work, Sissy? Was this for your son after Sandy hit his house? What did I miss?
BTW, Colleen, I don't think I commented, but those are some cute little platy babies! I miss having baby fish. Now, whenever my fish have babies (have 3 sets of mollies in the brackish water tank ...), I'm sure the other bigger fish look at them as food! Never do see any babies, you would think at least one would get lucky, wouldn't you?

Yes, there should be some babies CE, lots may be getting sucked up the filter, that why I devised that pink filter screen made from a plastic bath scrub net thing or whatever its called... that I never use. I secured a piece of the plastic bath netting in place with an elastic, until I did that lots of babies just disapeared into the filter tube that sucks the water, I seen the babes getting sucked into that thing! That's most likely the reason you have no babies. I LoVe my baby plattys, they swim around the hornwort, they are so darn cute! You can also get baby grass for the babies to hide in too. Plattys and Molly's don't live real long, live bears never do, so you need to have babies to replace the old ones. I always wanted Molly's too but got the guppies and plattys right now. Used to have a whole bunch of sword tails 15 years ago and that worked out real good till I got Chinese algae eater and he killed them!

Well, I had 5 platys originally in the 55 gal, and there sure is a lot of room for them to go and places to hide, as it's fully planted with live plants, and no babies. Now there are no more pairs or males left, just one lone female left. In the brackish water tank, I bought 3 blacks (always one male, sometimes 2 females), 3 white/silver mollies, and a pair of gold with black speckles. I've had the mollies for probably 4 months now, and not a one baby spotted. I always bought the big fat prego females, and mature males, so no reason no babies unless the filter is sucking them up, but there are plastic plants in the brackish 29 gal tank, too. I think the fish are following the females and eating the babies as soon as they pop out! LOL

CE next time you get big fat females put a screen over the pump intake tube, you will be surprised how many babies will you have then. Yes some may get eaten, thats life, but you should still have half the babies left. I know before I put the screens on the filter I was always wondering were they all went! Give it a try, just rig together some netting or nylon and then you should have Babies too!

During a causal conversation with a neighborhood acquaintance I mentioned discovering I am 12.5 percent Jewish. This acquaintance who declares himself "the embodiment of equality" replied "You ah Jew!" followed by "They say I'm a decendant of slaves but thank God I ain't no Jew.". I simply smiled and walked back toward home as his self proclaimed embodiment of equality lay in ruins at his feet.

If you look at Colleen's second pic above, Lou, they are the orange fish on the left (not sure if the black one is also a platy or not). Tropical fish, usually kept in an aquarium. Colleen has a bunch of inside aquariums, and her Platys had babies (as you can see in the other pics as well)!

Big lou I like you no matter what background or religion or color! I even would still like you even if you were little green man from mars!!

Stand tall and always be proud of where you come from, cause its all good!

Plattys are tropical fish, they come in all colors these days, and they give birth to live babies!
