I never liked dance clubs sissy. Too much noise, smoke. We have never been "party" people.

I could not stand the smoke back in the "old" days they could smoke anywhere lol. With my claustrophobia I have been known to the leave crowded places, would never survive being in times square for New Years Eve.
Sort of like jw, much preferred other ways to meet people.

I usually went to richies bar across from the ford plant on friday and saturday with the guys from the plant and always felt safe and was time to blow off steam and only lived right down the road on Old Post Rd so only 5 minutes away Didn't go all the time like the guys did though .I always thought they went because they had nothing better in there lives .Most of them were married and divorced more times than I could count .I think they thought it kept them young ,not sure .

Gosh that brings back memories of clouded smoke filled auditoriums in Seattle in the Summer where when there was a bunch of rock groups playing and too many people they would throw a big parachute out onto the floor and everyone would grab a hold of the edges and wave it up and down. I thought it was just for a fun trip but really it was to clear the air and make things a bit cooler I believe

When I was doing field research for my degree, I would go out to the bar, nothing else to do there. They where building a power plant near where I was at. Every time I went into the bar was offered some very good bucks to do the "dance", lots of men very few women, average offer (many many years ago $500 lol). I could have been rich if .................lol After living in that college trailer for 4 months I was glad to go back to campus.

While stationed in Los Angeles I found a tiny bar named Jakes. Close to my apartment, all around friendly group. We even had a pot luck supper every now and then. Sorta like an L.A. Cheers.
