Snails in my tank...

I have the white cory cats in my tank. They stay in one corner, and for some reason, all the nuisance snail's empty shells are over there. I don't know if the corys ate them or what, but at one time, they were everywhere. Now, just a graveyard of shells.

I learned about snails the hard way a few years back when I was taking care of American Toad Tadpoles. I threw a couple snails in... about a month later I saw tons of little specks, took a closer look and they were all snails, well over 100. Found eggs all over my rock too so there were more to come.

Still, that didn't stop me from throwing some in my pond, but I'll be watching it next year to make sure they don't take over.

Update:
1) The assassin snails are pretty much a non-issue. They might or might not eat a snail now and then, I don't really know. They are nice looking so I don't really mind them, but I wouldn't get them again.

2) I still do somewhat have a snail problem, but that's a non-issue as well since my swordtails like to eat snails. I just harvest the biggest ones and feed them to the swordtails.
