I love where I live but really hate to have to travel over 30 minutes to a store but the views are great .The neighbors are all pretty nice but I miss being close to a store where I can just run out and get something I need .I Edison NJ i was about 5 minutes from shoprite and about the same from home depot and cosco .I lived right off route 1 and could even walk to my dentist and eyeglass place right at the top of Old Post road .I really do miss that .Never thought I would miss high traffic time where 5 minutes to Shoprite turned into almost an hour ,but you learned fast not to go out at that time .Lived only a few minutes to Middlesex County College .All my friends lived right near me also and we used to go bike riding or walks on days we could get together .But taxes kill you there .When i left taxes on my house were over 12 thousand a year on just under an acre on a private road ,here I pay just over a thousand dollars on just over 3 acres .I go your way when I go up to NJ but like said that has been awhile .The roads have really changed up your way since a lot of the Washington people live in VA
Well I do like that I can get to Lowes and Krogers in less than 15 minutes...I was at least 30 minutes to a grocery store up at the cabin...It all depends on what ones priorities are....I still miss living in the woods and having a 7 acre natural pond to myself (well I shared it with bear, bobcat, otters, wood ducks, osprey, mink, deer, beaver)... not a sound other than the peepers in the summer and the ice on the pond creaking in the winter....Taxes, on the other hand are much lighter here...I was paying $15,000.00 a year up there and was living in the poorest county in New York! Of course I did have 160 acres but it was all forest.....They are forecasting a hotter than normal Summer here..I will be dreaming of the mountains, that's for sure!
