I use a see through plastic toy tub to take pictures, it has a hint of blue to it,lol,

the key to the clear water,(I think) is the media I use in the bio filter. funny thing, its plastic Army-Men and Legos :)

How funny! Someday those legos may be worth something, but for sure the army men. LOL So, looks like you have one container on top of the other, but the bottom one, is it used just for a raised base, since it's upside down? I'd like to see more of your whole pond, and filter system. If you have a post where you've posted them, just link me to them is fine, too.

I have a picture of the pond before it was finished you can see what’s going on with all the pumps and stuff , the water fall is a giant bio filter , just like the one before, its just in the ground. The water used to look like pee-green soup a week before this picture. Right after we got the pond hooked up to the filters, and added all the plants, it started to clear up. It’s been crystal clear since.

I have a feeling I'm going to be in the same predicament, PondBoy, come fall. I bought too many koi this past winter, they are in a pool in my basement, ready to go into the pond this summer. Building a new pond for the goldfish, so swapping about 20 goldies for 14 koi. WAY too many koi, so once they start growing, I'll have to decide which ones I want to keep and which ones sell, and move on. You should put your fish on the classified section, especially since you take good clear pics of the fish. There are enough people in the area that you'll get them given away or sold in short order, especially if you can wait a month from now when everyone should have their ponds up and running. Good luck!

Um ... are you referring to my pond pic under my name? Yep, that's my first ever pond, dug by hand with a shovel, all by myself last spring. :) I'm very proud of it, and now come the time of year that I see what I've done wrong, how I can change or tweak it, and I'm already planning on adding a second pond, just not sure how to put it, to miss the sump pump drain pipe, the huge stump (and roots) and 10' tall tree trunk (which is there for my bird feeders LOL). It will be tricky, but I'll get it figured out one of these days. I want to segregate all the goldfish from the koi, so I can see if I get any koi fry. If not, that's fine, the goldies do their best and have produced about 10 babies that are really pretty.
If you're ever heading east for the day, PM me and I'd love to show you my pond. Always fun to "talk ponds" with others more experienced in the trade.

Will do:), but I'm not that experienced, lol, everything I know can be contributed to this one woman in Mount Vernon IL who I bought all my koi & plants from, I will be headed out there when it warms up to replenish all my dead tropical plants, & ill be asking her a notebook full of questions this year. ;)

Well, it's great to have someone to confer with on your fish and plants. BTW, on your tropical plants, if you have a basement or garage that does not freeze, most of them can be brought inside for the winter, and back outside after it warms up. I still have my taro, elephant ear, thalia, hibiscus, umbrella palm and a few others down in the basement under flourescent lights. Most of them have had green growth all winter, but not as profusely as if they were outside in the sunshine. I'm hoping they will all take off once our weather decides to settle down and give us spring for sure!
