Does a Sweet Flag require soil in it's planter or can I grow it with just pebbles in a planter?
I think some of that depends on how established your pond is and how nutrient-filled the water is. I believe you could do in just pebbles and it would do a good job sucking nutrients from the water. But if it is a very new pond, it might struggle a little the first year or two.

Mine grew huge in a big pot of clay kitty litter! Left it too long and I had to use a rope to tug and pull it out so I could divide it as it busted the pot! Don't wait that long like I did and all will be fine. That stuff grows like crazy!
