Need help on how to improve neglected ponds

Not irrelevant as it is a source for future algae growth. Easily controlled with a binder.

Is there a solution to her problem without proper filtration, etc? Algaecide or is that an environmental no, no? ... and it's a temporary fix if one at that...

the big pond looks great as it is ,something to enjoy , the smaller allgae ridden one needs turning into something easier to maintain and to enjoy, id vote for a rock garden with a water feature
