MINE ARE OFTEN SEEN UP ON THE ROCKS AS WELL.....THEY'LL DO ANYTHING AND GO ANYWHERE THEY CAN FOR FOOD. SOMETIMES IT LOOKS LIKE THEY'D NEED A HAND GETTING BACK IN THE WATER, BUT THEY ALWAYS MANAGE. I DID RESCUE ONE ONCE WHEN HE GOT HIMSELF WEDGED IN THE IRIS' ABOVE WATER LINE. THIS WAS DURING THE SPAWN SO I IMAGINE THE EGGS WERE THE TARGET.

Joann your pond pics are amazing. I can't wait till I have koi! I did get prices from our local high school and went to look at them. They have a huge set-up. 6 - 8" are 5 for $35. That doesn't sound like a bad price to me. The little ones at petsmart are $4.99.

PL, that's a great price!!! Joann, I love your fish pics climbing out of the water. That first pic on the previous page sure does look like that white koi is totally out of the water. What clear water you do have!!!

Pondlover, that is a great price...all our koi were inexpensive, we do favor the butterflies though.
Just remember they get big!

Country, they will shimmy up the rocks for food, one thing about koi they're
not the least bit timid of their masters.

we had to change the rocks in the beach from small pebbles to big rocks
cause the koi would pick them up in their mouths roll them around and
spit them out !

this is Silver in the beach -- she's 14 and this is one of her babies.

The school also has Butterfly Koi and I LOVE their long flowing fins. They are not the same price, I believe they were $11 each. A price that I am more than willing to pay when I can add them to my pond.

I swear most of your pictures look like there is no water in the area, Joann! That is some crystal clear water for sure. I aspire to have that clear of water, too! I can see to the bottom of the pond, but it's not quite that clear. Going to get the filter up and running this weekend and that will help things, too.
