They were saying on the news this has been a colder than normal november (average) no clue how they figure that when we have been hitting the 60's and 70's this month. I need to take some shots of all the flowers that are regrowing and blooming like crazy.

Sissy, there appears to be lots of grandoggers lazin around and Pee wees getting non stop head neck and ear massage's!
You look like you still have floating water plant's growing! I can't stand it!!! I going to see how many more hours of sun you get way down there... lets see, looks like the sun rose today in Auton at 6:55am and set at 17:09pm, just a couple minutes ago. So you got 10 hours 12 minutes of sun today, while I got only 9 hours and 3 minutes!! You must have a fairly short winter, when do you start planting a garden there?

We had a very mild winter last year so the second week in march I was pulling out our old pond liner and started digging to make it bigger. I got it all done that weekend and had the new liner in place and started to fill it that Sunday. There was a small root sticking out that I didn't see and tore the liner. It was on a seam so I didn't have any luck fixing it so I just left the liner in place and put a new right on top of it. Normally we aren't able to dig until at least a month later at the earliest. We normally see about 3' of snow a winter and the 09-10' snow season we had close to 7' of snow.

Years ago when I redug my top pond, I used old matts for a "preliner" and it seamed to work good, but now the top pond is getting pretty old again, the liner is going to be 18 or 19 years old and I wan't to replace it with a bigger liner and stretch the pond out into the garden. I can take the garden fence down that I built long ago to keep out my niece when she was two, and who now is 22! Good grief where did the time go??

Weather still fairly nice, not cold enough to heat the pond, temperature is right now is minus 4c and should get to plus 6c today. Sun has not rose yet and it is still very dark outside. The days are growning very short, and the sun just hovers over the horizon this time of year. Can't wait till December 21, cause after that day the days will begin to grow longer again......

Well today by the pond, fish were swimming bit more in the sun, weather really nice right now, close to plus 10c right now!! Ice and snow melting but turning to muck in back yard in places.

The two Big fish in top pond were hanging around the plants and the sun was at the right angle, so I got a good shot of them today without so much refection. You can see at the surface of the water in some pictures and the aquatic mint that trails in the water, is still green now that the ice has melted. The tips of the aquatic mint are very fresh and nice smelling this time of the year, now the the tops have died back, the energy has gone to the new fresh tips. Just touch of these mint root shoot tips, will scent up the hand and smell very nice.

When does the real winter get started up there? that is when temps stop getting near nor raise above 0*C for a few weeks at least?? Meh, if temps still getting near or break above freezing, then I consider it to be an extended cold Fall or a warm Winter. Coleen, sounds like you're having a pretty volatile warm Winter so far.

Here in the "Hat" weather can change pretty quick. If a Siberian high moves in over the Arctic, then we can get get very cold. But then we do get warm winds from down south called a "Chinook", and it can go from like minus 30c to plus 5 very quick. Right now it does seem a bit warm the last couple days. Average temperatures for this time of the year is plus 3c to minus 9c. This time last year the temperature was minus 16c. They are forcasting plus 16c for Tuesday here, way above normal.
