Wow ladies I can see some pent up hostilities!

nah, got a good good man now. Previous hubby had some mental issues towards the end (last few years of his life), couldn't really blame him, he had no control of his mind.

Too many bad marriages out there because they were never taught how to give and take in a marriage .If you are selfish they you should not marry .They think it is a game ,how many times can I get married .Tried to tell my older son the women he was picking were not the right women if he was the one giving 100 % and they were not commited .Hard to find these days because all the dumb people watch those dumb stupid shows on tv .Never understood how these people on those shows can do them .They seem to grow in popularity and never understood why people would think they want to be like them .Fame and fortune has it's price .usually death or disease .

Sissy, They are talking about it hitting 50 degrees here by Monday so hopefully I can see what's going on. CE the pump was halfway down the pond on a shelf so it was definitely not exposed to the elements. That is good to know about the pumps sometimes shutting off if things get clogged. it's a Laguna 900. Addy that sounds rough. I think the average person doesn't realize how difficult it can be to live with a very sick spouse. I guess I did open a can of worms with my other comments about not hearing and not talking! I don't know what to say but probably both men and woman are guilty of both. My wife complains I don't hear her and she did have me take a hearing test a few years ago which found a few problems. I feel I'm too young to do anything about it but it seems that most of our fights are about things she claims I didn't hear.

You're right, Keith, never is just one spouse being the guilty one. People need to give and take. I'm totally in your ballgame, Sissy, can't always be the giver (in my situation) and never receive anything in return. It's a two-way street, and both need to give to the other. That's what makes a happy marriage. I was always the giver. maybe someday I'll find a smiling giver to compliment me! LOL
I think your pump will be fine, Keith. I've had really good luck with my Lagunas. I think they automatically shut down when pushed too hard. I have heater on my koi pond trying to speed up the thaw out with the warm temps coming my way next couple of days.

lol Keith, he became disabled 2 years after we married, made it to 19 yrs before he passed. Everything was fine, sort of, until the last 5 yrs then a downhill mental slide. I just worked to support us.
My new hubby is wonderful, we never fight, he tells me his only job in life is to keep me happy. He does a great job at his job which is me lol. We do notice, we need to look at each other, fingers off the key board, eyes off the tv when we talk serious and listen to each others words. Or we head to the hot tub, there we have very good discussions, problem solving, mind opening ...........like how to redo the bathroom we have torn apart. Still have not done anything, we are tossing around solutions to fix a tiny bathroom. Think we can even make it handicap accessible. If we ever need that.

It takes effort to maintain and stay happy in a marriage, you know ..............the superior women...................helping the man!

The best part about what you wrote, Addy, was that you need to look at each other in a serious conversation, get off keyboard or computer, phone, etc. I think that's going to be a major obstacle for young people these days. They will not know how to put those things down to work on their marriage. I so often want to tell young people, "He/she is talking to you, put that phone down!" LOL

No kidding you see people out now, eating together, but each on their own phone, texting or doing whatever, not even speaking to each other.

Yep, saw a group of girls and guys at the bar last weekend, about 10 of them sitting together, not one of them was talking to the other. They were ALL on their phones. What's the point of going out with friends if you aren't even going to talk to them? I wonder if kids these days will have problems communicating in their lives, because of texting and being so dependent on phones. I shut my phone off and didn't even look at it the whole time I was at the bar with my friends.
Heard a comedy act on Comedy Central on my radio. Sounded like the comedian took someone's phone from them, acted like it was part of his act, said, "Oh, I asked them to hold my phone for me. See, it quit ringing!" I'm sure everyone was told to shut off their phone for the show, but this person didn't do it, and happened to be up close to the stage. You could hear the phone ringing, and evidently the comedian took it! I say good for him. :)

CE, those stories are funny. Sometime people don't realize when their phone can become a disruption. Obviously by all those kids being on their phones they could be watching you tube, googling information, texting, playing games, checking e-mails, using hundreds of applications that could be on their phone etc and may be more interesting than anything their friends may have to say! At home I turn off my phone right before dinner because my wife doesn't like me looking at the phone when we are talking. it's actually a relief to turn it off. Sometimes I'll sit out by my pond in the summer and check e-mails for work from my phone. It's always fun when you get a call from an associate working out of an office building and I am working next to my pond sitting on a nice comfortable chair with the sun shining and some pretty fish and birds nearby!

Oh, I wish I could work by my pond, Keith. That would be heavenly. In fact, sometimes I take my laptop outside to read e-mails, GPF, FB, etc. and I truly enjoy that. This morning, it must be 60 at least. I could not believe how warm. Feels like I stepped outside in FL, along the ocean, hearing all the water moving around me. Heaven ... in January ... in ILLINOIS for goodness sake! But, it will all change tomorrow.

Well CE you were right. The temps dropped 60 degrees over two days, and it was almost a 50 degree drop in the first 24 hours. Earlier in the week I noticed some of my bigger fish swimming around a large hole in the ice and pretty active. It was really fun to see them because lately either the pond was covered in snow or I could just see orange blobs under the ice. Yesterday the whole pond iced over and today it's so cold you probably drive a car over the ice. Poor fish, they probably don't know what to think!

Yep, it dropped awful here, ponds went from totally thawed out, everything up and running, to frozen over from Thurs. night until Fri. a.m. Yuck yuck yuck. Got heater on each pond, bubbler still working, so hoping to get them mostly thawed out this weekend, since coming week temps supposed to be in the 40's.

Keith I am warmer than you are right now, that's a change, I am at 33 degrees and your are only 21 F. Tomorrow we are expected to get back up to 41 F and your forcast high tomorrow is only 29 F. My top two ponds have almost no ice left and my bottom pond is still half ice. CE I see that I am warmer than you two! The groundhog said you guys are supposed to get more winter :( while my groundhog said spring is in the way soon for me! :)

Well, I'm glad if you get spring soon, Colleen, cause you have tons of pretty flowers that you can share pics of with the rest of us still in winter for a while longer. :) Keith and I are in the same state (Illinois), although he's about 4 hours north of me, so usually 10-15 degrees cooler than here, although sometimes he's warmer than me. My temps tomorrow are supposed to be 44 here tomorrow, and 40's for the next 10 days! I'm loving it.
