The bog project is just about done. I put another 500 lbs of pea gravel in it over the weekend. My water is about 7-8 inches high and the pea gravel is about 12 inches over 8-9 inches of river rock. I planted the bog plants today and added a few more that I had around the pond that were similar. There are a lot of babies in the bog. I guess they found a safe place to hide. These pics are from 7:00 tonight. The water is clear enough to easily see the fish.

I love it! That bird's eye view is the best!

I took one picture on the first day of each month for an entire year from our upstairs bathroom window. You could do that from your balcony - it's so fun to put the pictures side by side and see the changes from one month to the next.

Wow Keith, it looks great.....what a transformation !!!! I absolve the idea of taking a picture each month.....fun to watch the transition.

We raised our gravel level today.....added 3 bags of pea gravel and will add another tomorrow. Hoping it helps with the algae to have more gravel.

I actually set a calendar reminder for the first day of each month. My husband and I share a calendar, so if I ignored the reminder, he would nag me to go take my picture... so helpful. haha!

Here's nine months worth:

Lisa. I love all the pictures. I can decide which of the warmer months pics I like the most. I like that you have different colors every month from all your plants, shrubs, and tree.

Thank you! Also cleaned out the garage today and moved some shrubs besides setting up another water pump and cleaning up some of the plantings. I think I need a break! Wish the issue with covid was over so I can stop doing home projects!!

Hi Lisa. I think I’ll try to do that too. It’s a cool idea. We actually have a 3 story porch. I can take a higher picture tomorrow!

Thank you. Good luck with your pond project Mitch. I’m interested in following it if you plan to post pictures along the way. I’m also very interested in Koi and am glad to discuss them. My five Koi are all imported Japanese Koi. I feel they have the best examples of each variety of Koi. I have two Showas, a Sanke, a Shiro Utsuri, and one Datsu Gin Matsuba .... and a lot of goldfish because they were in my first pond!

I put everything on my phone calendar as a reminder, sometimes a day before a hour before etc Get a very nice alert.............hey you got something to do! Even have the recycle on a reminder since it is every other week, easy to forget. Except it is usually full by pick up day.
I will try that also, we look down on most of our ponds, like being in a 3 story high house.

Great job on the bog! Fun to see babies, uh oh tho, hope you have a lot of people who need some fishies for their ponds near you? Craigslist and nextdoor.com to the rescue!

Your bog looks great! lol and a baby hiding place, get ready to give some away!
Thank you! Yes Its so cool to see all the babies darting around in the bog. As I have been working in and around the pond the last few weeks I have been so surprised how many baby fish I have seen. I’m talking about under an inch. In the past I never even saw one!
