Took some pictures over the past couple of days. The plants and fish are looking healthy and thriving and the water... well its on its way. I havent seen my pleco in a few weeks but I know he's/she's down at the bottom feasting.

What is that middle picture? I would hope it would be a window on the side of my house looking outside :smuggrin:

I wasn't expecting for the lily pads to be growing and sprouting as much as they are from the Rhonda. 2 pads unrolled last night and there's 3 more creeping up to the surface. It's what I wanted to have happen though. I would like to have 1/2 the surface covered to keep more of the sunshine from wreaking havoc in this Florida heat. Its been 90° for the highs and low-mid 70s at night. Keeping the water temps between 78-80°F

So yesterday I couldn't see 8 inches under the surface and this morning I came outside to do my usual fish head-count, not expecting a miracle but I can actually see the bottom of my pond again!!! Was I visited by the magic pond fairy last night?

Like the color of the blooming lilies in the previous pic. Once the pond starts to clear, it clears up pretty quick.

@qclabrat thank you.

As for your question, I can't answer that but I am sure there are a lot more educated people who can answer your question on this forum. I'm sure there are but if I had to guess, it probably has a lot to do with the location/climate of the pond that will suit other goldfish better than the other.

Good quality bubble eyes are hard to get... you get a poor one and they die in a few months... if you get those get them dandyorandas or goldfishnet. The smaller the bubbles the better for the pond.

Pom Pom are crappy as pond fish cause they just don't see you as well and so wont come to feed and be friendly. They will need sinking food.

Celestials will do well but won't come up much due to their difficulty locating food.

The other types are ok for a pond. Prefer long tail over short tail ryukins. If you get an oranda make sure the head and the back fin have some space in between. Seems to be a factor in swim bladder issues.
