I would rather see masks on then off. Even if they are not the best masks, even if they may not stop all droplets. It is better than nothing.
We never wear them in our neighborhood, walking the dog etc. But if meet anybody else walking everybody stays on a different side of the road.
Out in public, yep they are on. We just stay away from the public as much as we can.

@Tula I sure know what you and her parents are going through and my heart goes out to you all. It is awful and as a parent you never really get over it you just get through it and deal w/it the best that you can. We go through a lot of times of "What if we only" thoughts. Depression can hit them hard but some are good at hiding it.
I'm sorry to hear you've gone through a similar loss, it's unimaginable. In addition to their shock and grief, they had to make arrangements to cross into Canada...normally an easy thing. They must now quarantine for 15 days before returning to the US.

How awful for them. @Tula at a time like this for them everything that gets in their way will be 10 times worse. I hope they can get through this and find some peace.

Not to be insensitive and this is only meant as it can get worse. a work mate lost his mom and she is in South Africa. and they insist he and his family to go to the funeral be quarantined for 14 days to enter south Africa and the US says the same as he would have tI take a month off fly on a plane with masks on the whole way landing God knows where to switch planes. he figured he was looking at 30 k and endless hours.

I'm sorry about your work mate's Mom. Wow, what an ordeal to try to get to South Africa......I guess we took the convenience of travel for granted before all this.

We took / take a lot for granted. BUT IT IS HARDLY DONE AND GONE. we just have to think for our selves stop giving a rats azz about what Hollywood and the media feel how we should act and think. WE NEED TO GO BACK TO BEING AMERICA AND NOT A SOCIAL MEDIA NIGHTMARE. not yelling at you tula in any way it's just me being passionate about the subject.

I have done the trip from Atlanta to Johannesburg (Joburg) on Delta. It’s 17-18 hours direct but that is more expensive than switching planes....then to go some where else like Cape Town is another few hours. I heard Joburg is having a hard time with Covid right now. Also it’s winter there now and I guess it’s been exceptionally cold this year.

On a better note I took the antibody test a week ago and it looks like I never had Covid. I thought I did for sure back in March.

They are now saying the antibody disappears after xx amount of time. So you still might have had it.

Hubbies son was going to head down to Florida, we talked him out of it. Said why when they are spiking as bad as they are. Fl will be there for the rest of your lives why chance it?

Our governor just had a live new conference which he hasn't done for awhile. I thought it was a good speech, well delivered. He is NOT mandating masks, but rather asking Ohioans to please wear them....in hopes of keeping the economy open, schools and other activities resuming.

I see where Kroger and Walmart will soon require masks inside their stores.

I thought it was a disappointing speech. He needs to close bars and restaurants again, otherwise we're going to end up like Florida and Arizona. The way we're going there's no way schools can open safely next month.

My views on masks changed when I was recently diagnosed with Stage 3 rectal cancer. I am undergoing chemo & radiation treatments now and still working in my office most days. I'm now immuno-suppressed so the wearing of masks helps me out. I'm in Texas where the rates keep going up. I only go to work and home now, my grown kids that live with me take care of shopping and any errands (and pond/bog building as well). I'm not looking to argue with anyone on the subject, just my POV changed greatly when my risks if I contract the virus changed. It is a difficult situation and there just aren't easy answers from any direction.
