Yep, my parrots feather I tried to put on the edge of the pond, the koi moved. In the goldfish pond, where I put it in between the lilies, it's doing well and growing well. Rest of it is in the lower pool of the waterfall of the koi pond and doing very well. had some in the waterfall of the koi pond, but when the pump quit, that all dried up and died. Have some in the stream, and it's doing well, fighting the algae for room, but still holding it's own. The water fringe is doing best in the stream, although doing ok in the goldfish pond, too. Anything I think the koi will eat or nibble on goes in the goldfish pond, even though I do have 3 koi in there.
I need some other type of floating plant that I can load up in the stream. Might try to find some more mini lilies or plants that are similar to lilies, like the water fringe ... or just wait for mine to multiply so I can load up the stream with it next year. :)

Had to go look up the Water Fringe. Pretty little things and look like mini water lilies. CE do they need shallow water like a stream bed or does it matter?

Well, I'm experimenting with the 3 plants I got. Here's the one in the stream. It's doing really good, considering all the algae it has to deal with.

Then here it is in the goldfish pond along the edge. I think I have it anchored in that pot, along with some parrots feather. It's growing well, but not as green as the plant in the stream.

OK, this was in one of the lotus pots (that the lotus died, but I've kept the water in them, in case a frog wanted to use them for a nursery). It's like a sponge, must be some type of algae, but more like a plant, very fibrous. there are several bunches of it in this pot, and some in the other pots, too. Does anyone know what it is?

And, while I was just outside, the tropical lily opened it's bloom, was not open less than an hour ago! Isn't this gorgeous?! I love this color!!!

The water fringe is really cute! I think I read on the net that it grows in some of our lakes here. I'll have to see if I can find some out there somewhere whenever we go camping which hopefully will be soon now that our weather is improving.

Weird looking green thing and don't know what it is. Will be interesting to know what someone says it is.

Love your very pretty blooming tropical and yes it is gorgeous!

I think I'm going to open a thread and see if I can get it identified. Very strange texture, like a very airy sponge. Kind of like if you squeeze it, water comes out, and then it repuffs itself back to original shape! I like it, but if it's something that will take control, I don't like it. LOL

The flower on your lily is beautiful ce.
Worked out in my pond this morning. I pulled my lilies out and fertilized them and then pulled the string algae off of
them  . I have a couple of lilies that have buds on them so I'm excited for them to bloom. I also changed some water in the pond and wanted to get a few more plants added to the pond but it started to get to hot to be outside. Maybe tomorrow I will get them put in.

Thanks, MTP. Do you have any shallow areas of your pond? I have lots of bog plants I could send you some starts from them. Glad to hear you have buds coming on your lilies. They are so beautiful when they bloom! We'll be watching for photos of your flowers when they arrive. :)

CE I have been putting my plants behind rocks in the pond and then I also have some that are still in pots that I just sit on rocks in the pond. I'd love to have some starts if you have extra.

Thanks. I can see some more buds coming up to the surface.
It looks like the string algae is starting to disappear some. I still have to clean the skimmer filter twice a day because the algae strarts plugging it up.

Darn I hope you find your wiggly butt fish sissy and they do move slower than the slimmer fish which does make it easier for a critter to get them but hoping that's not the case. Neat you have a bloom coming on. I am getting one once in awhile but now it's cooler again w/o sunshine so they hibernate.
