I have trapped 25 water snakes. Lost over 200 fish last year. I know how many since I bought 250 to replace fish.. my pond had gotten low in fish for unknown reasons, now I know why.

Still trapping but at a slower rate.

I removed the forest of hornwort, the snakes hung out in it and snacked on the fish.

So far so good. I havent seen the snake in the pond for about a week, but I also just drained and cleaned it out. So it was empty for about 5 days. Still not sure what kind of snake it was some say garter and some say moccasin.
I will let you know if I see him again though

I have read that they don't like the smell of ammonia. I also put some moth balls out around my house ( ppl say they work) but my pond is higher than ground lvl so no chance of run off. They don't like the smell of vinegar, lemon oil, and a few others I forgot.

Ammonia eh? Cheap peeing around the pond might just do it..............well if it works why not? Just don't kill your plants!

Ha! Love it. My Larger Half says he gets a cramp in his leg from pressing an imaginary break pedal when I drive (and I always drive, as I'm the worst passenger on the face of the planet).

And I definitely identify with the bit about needing four hands! But your pond looks great, so your two hands are doing some pretty good work!

I put snake away out, stunk like moth balls, still had snakes. A slower catch rate this year. Still around though.
