Couldnt help but laugh through the article ... I am in the ANTI vax camp ... In 1969 I received the MMR vax ... 1970 I had the measles ... My mother at that time was a RN ... I received no other vax through my childhood, nor as an adult ...
First child born in 1991 ... he received all vax his doctor suggested until the age of 4, no known side effects ...
Second child born in 1992 ... she received through 2 yr old vax, and a month later, developed a seizure disorder ... neurologist BLAMED vax ... after 3 months of weekly seizures, never another ... nor another vax ...
Third child born in 1995 received NO vax at all, until 1999 ... doctor supported my no vax position BUT asked me to AT LEAST protect her against CHICKEN POX as there was a new vax and it was "going around" at that time ,.. guess what she had a month later (while we were spending a month in FL) ... yup ... chicken pox ... which she gave to both of her siblings AND ME ...
Silly me continued to vax our pets ... as a breeder, I slowly gave up all vax EXCEPT FOR RABIES by law ... As time went on, the AVA suggested a REDUCTION in pet vax (although some vets are still insane with the amounts they push) ... Back to the rabies vax ... I and other breeders started documenting the percentile of rabies vax reactions we were seeing (more than 50%)... Typically, pups would receive their first rabies vax about 6 months of age, but still common at a year ... when we saw "fear periods" initially, everyone was saying it was just the age, it was normal for even a well socialized pup to go through a fear period ... so we started looking for the loopholes in the law, and pushing these dogs back as far as 2 and 3 yr olds to receive that first vax and guess what ... fear periods ....
Same can be said for the canine paro virus ... I cant tell you how many breeders I had spoken with when I was still active in the show world who lost whole litters of puppies after giving that vax ...
There will be people who believe in the herd mentality, and so be it ... if their vaccines work, they have nothing to fear from those who are not! The risk is on those who are NOT vax'd and exposed to newly vax'd people OR PETS ...
I sincerely wish more people would research this topic before putting their children or pets at risk!
