Spring 2023 Everything is coming to life. Just finished installing new clay and fertilizer tablets to the lilies, and added sand in the shallow area within the pond making it a beach. The video was taken 4 hours latter the water is still a bit murky.

As i have said before while most dread hair algae and while a huge amount is of concern I welcome patches of it as most everything has gone dormant. The hair algae is one that is still hungry for nutrients during cold New England weather. This year we had a very mild winter where even plants that generally would not over winter here seem to have made it like one of my favorites the night lily.

The pitcher plants have been cut back and many new shoots have come up the last week.

Thanks @j.w but what is most relaxing is that since i built the pond i could not see it from within the house as believe it or not no windows faced the back yard. "not my design" we have a huge fireplace and a book shelf on the back wall . they for some reason didn't add a window. Well NO MORE got fed up and cut in a 40x 67" double hung RIGHT NEXT TO MY CHAIR. SCORE.... now i can hear waterfalls again. Just like the aquarium with its waterfall. I'll be sleeping in the recliner tonight i'd bet..

Very peaceful listening to the running water in those videos. I agree. I'm glad to see some string algae in the spring because it is keeping my water clear until the other plants start growing. Oh, how much I have changed. I used to try to get every last piece of it out of the pond. I kept treating the pond like my aquarium.

And what a good idea that you put in a window! I can sit at my kitchen table and look out the sliding glass doors at my pond or sit in a chair in the bedroom and look out the window at the pond. Really nice when the weather isn't nice enough to be sitting pond side. Did you put in the window recently?

You still make me giggle at the changes you are making to your pond. You need to start building ponds for other people so you can get it out of your system. ;)

The ducks are making nightly/ twilight visits to the pond. Seems they want the algae that is in the corners where little flowisits notquitehairalgaebyt itsclose. So far they are notdestroying anything else. Who saidducks weren't agile fliers to get under one cable over another drop before the patio umbrella and drop into the pond is impressive.

i'd have to loose the patio and that's simply not going to happen or i could loose the fireplace but too is too much too loose. so i'll have to be selfish and have the best seat in the house you can see the pond from almost anywhere in the living room.
Just watched the ducks come in and do their thing .
