You could also string a set of lights on the support wire.

The wire is certainly strong enough, but we like very soft light more of a glow from the pond and a fire. I have the wire up at 16 feet high at the peek on each end when you look up the stars are the lights I dig. we do more a small gatherings more subdued lighting.
Upper pond and the top of the two water falls. Well one falls is the main the second is a small fall more of a little attention getter in the corner. But it's main reason for being is if the main falls gets clogged by plants or leaves it will not over flow the banks but will dump over the smaller falls more. the falls are off to both sides of the rock almost in the center of the photo.

part of the main lower pond, And the stagnant bog no water is pumped through this bog upper right it's 6" deep. I believe next year I will expand the pitcher plants in there

Leaf diverter I noticed too many leaves were getting past the skimmer and makea trip around the pond two or three times. And as they spent more time in the water they would get water logged and start to sink so a quick pvc pipe floating and catching diverting 90 % of the leaves to the skimmer the first go around. I should add so those new to the blog don't have to read back there are two return water jets pushing the water toward the skimmer which is where the upper end of the pvc is in. the pond has a circular rotation with the water flow
no net on the right but the net is up on the left. Very happy with the results.

First snow fall of the year and the first of many to fall on the pond. the pump is still running at this point it's been pretty mild here just reaching freezing so far . but the pond will be shut down for the year as a air stone is going to keep the pond open and a second smaller 3000 gph pump will circulate the main bog over the winter keeping the bacteria and water from going stagnant.
So pretty! A lovely pond definitely adds to the winter beauty!

The pond project has reached the one year old mark. So here are some over all pictures more to come in the coming days.
Cliff Notes
1. The upper bog"{Light blue}" is 20x10x7 feet deep snorkel and multiple layers of different sized gravel with aqua blox and wetland plants species planted at the top with a snorkel tube.
2. Lower bog " {Orange}" is 10x6 with 2" pvc cut and a foot and a half deep with 3/4 gravel. Both bogs drain into the stream the upper bog does so with a waterfall. the lower does not.
3. Stream " {Dark blue}" is 35 feet long then drops into a small pond 10'x5' and 2 feet deep.
4. The small pond " {Purple}" then has two 1 foot waterfall drops into the main pond. One is 4 feet wide the other is a foot wide.
5. Small bog "Yellow}" is 6" deep with 3/4 stone and sand for pitcher plants and covered in moss no pressure is forced through this area.
5. Main pond is 6 feet deep
I should also add that in the deck pictures there is a golf net to the left if you look real hard you can see a little darkening and in the backyard pic once the main pond stops your looking through the net there as well. It was my option for keeping keron out instead of covering the pond with a net i made a Avery sorta speak.

5 PHASES ARE NOW COMPLETE!!!!!!!!! One year latter after filling the pond and adding my first koi. heres some photos after this past couple of days completing some more detail work like hiding liners and plantings around the bog.

Very nicely done! Quite the feat getting all this built but also planning it all to come together.
Thank you, Some of the plan was by design, some was by working the plan and finding other solutions. Now that it's close to completion I'd love to start fresh and try again using the lessons learned.
I just love, love, love your pond. I too have a list of things I would do differently if I had to start over, but I sure don't want to do all that work again so I will live with it just like it is!
