Hey JW what kind of lilly is this? From the pic the lilly pads look really big, how big are they?

Tmann they are not as big as they look in the picture. The lily bloom was small making the pads look larger and this was a close up photo. Like they say pictures can be deceiving

In the big pond
PH 8.0
Gh 80
Kh 120
nitrite-0
nitrate-20
ammonia-0
temp. 89
In the container that that big one is in everything is the same except the
Nitrate 0
Kh 180
and temp is at 90 but not stable.
Now this is the weird part
300 gallon pond
PH 7.8
GH 80
KH-100
nitrite-0
nitrate-40
ammonia-0
temp-90
Can't keep a water lettuce or hyacinths alive in this pond at all! I have tried several times this year with no luck. Lilies are growing like crazy, anachris is growing but not great, marginals, growing but slow. Same amount of light. Last year this pond grew HUGE water hyacinths, and some water lettuce.

Fishin that thing is huge!

that is NOT the biggest one! It was just the better looking of the four big massive ones I have. I have one that I just measured that is a whopping 20" across! One plant no babies included.

Be interesting to pin down the readings needed for water lettuce. My pH is still high but within range at upper 8s now. Maybe it needs more acidic water.
i've kept them in PH from 6.5-8.7 Honestly I don't think they are effected one way or another by PH as long as it is withing this rabge, Under 6.0- or over 9.0 I would be curious if they are effected.

Since you are in a warmer location do you keep them year round and does it take a while to get this big?
some years I can keep them year round some not. depends on how cold we get here. They grow wild here so getting a new start in the spring is never a problem. The four big ones I'm growing are about four moths old. But I will tell you, first frost and they are ALWAYS the first plants to die.
