If you build it they will come.

Is it a long term issue or just a few weeks in springtime? I do love the boat idea - if it doesn't work it would still be fun!

I wonder if a disco type but stronger strobe light would be enough as the light would be there and then gone and then there again. But the boat splitting a frogs legs and the toad belly surfing infront of the boat would go viral

How's the string algae it may still be a but early buy I'm betting you'll enjoy it a bit more this year. Add two koi to keep it pruned

Season seems to get longer every year. This year the first RIBBET was in late February. The crescendo is about now until late May or early June. They depart for good sometime in August.

what about something that just makes noise or disturbs the water randomly? Mine seem to shut up whenever startled.

My first idea was to automate a fountain that triggered on a decibel level to shoot water around the shoreline and startle them quiet. I prototyped that idea one night with a spray bottle. They seemed to like it.

It's getting better all on its own. Couldn't be more pleased with that. Stray algae fills up my course matala pads really quick, though. Finally have a decent backwashing system in place, so I can manage that more easily.

As for the koi... I'm still trying to find my carp!

You may never see that rascal for a while! Did you see the post where someone in Tacoma is giving up some koi?

I did not! I barely have time these day to keep up with this thread and Wordle. Will check it out, though.

A trip to Tacoma right now—even though it’s close—would be a stretch.

Could make it a fun family day trip on a weekend though. There’s an awesome kid’s museum in Olympia we could stop at, too. Look at that, you talked me into it.
