The little yellow blooms are on a plant called Water Fringe, or Floating Heart. This pic shows the flower more close up, and the "fringe" on the edge of the petals.

They float on the water, can be started in a pot, and grow from there, or simply put the roots in between rocks on the edge of your pond in the water. I have it growing in my stream, and in a pot in the goldfish pond, and in between the rocks. All places it is growing well this year. Kind of takes a year to really establish itself. Like most plants, the first year it works mostly on the root system, so the following year it's everywhere! I have plenty, if you want a start of it I'd be happy to send you one. :blueflower: If you PM me your name and address by 8 a.m. tomorrow, I'll send some out to you in the mail tomorrow. Had an extra cutting when I got plants out this afternoon.

Nope, it has absolutely no smell. That's what I thought it was, too, so first thing I plucked off a top and rubbed it and smelled it. Nothing. I'm going to send a pic of this and the other flower I have to that website Addy posted, I just have to find it again, not sure which thread, maybe the Spring photos thread? Anyhow, when I see that again, I'll post pics on that and see what those gardening people say.
here you go ce

I used that and found out the featherly stuff from Sheetmetalman was called Cypress Spurge, it's very invasive, although didn't seem too bad in his wooded setting. I suspect in the sunshine and given lots of space, it would take over. Funny, when I posted pic to that site, I was answered within 10 minutes. Then, once I learned it was very invasive, and decided to pull it and toss it (don't want any more invasive in the dirt, bog is easier to control), a lady asked if I still had it, as she had been searching for it since a child, remembered it in her grandparent's yard or something like that! So, went out to rescue the pulled plants, to find out that I had bush hogged over them with the tractor, only found one, and put the other cut up one in water. Told her I could get her all she wanted, when/if Sheetmetalman is able to catch one of the albino catfish, he wants to come see my pond, and get some of my abundant hostas! Then she started asking if I was interested in sharing plants and seeds. OMG, here we go again. LOL
Anyhow, thanks for that site. It's a great one, but I sure don't need more plants coming and going here ... oh well, I do enjoy making people happy with plants that I can share, though. :blueflower:

yes it is a good site, plant fanatics. I go there off and on, not too much. This site takes enough time.

I go on this site morning and evening, and sometimes it's hard to keep up with all the back and forth, but I enjoy it. Also go to Facebook each morning/evening, and clear my inbox on 2 e-mail sites. I hate it when my sisters with smart phones tell me in the middle of the day that they sent me a message, why didn't I respond to it yet?! Well, for one, I don't get personal e-mail at work ... I work for the State, remember? And secondly, I don't have a smart phone, still only have my "dumb" phone, thank you very much. LOL All I hear about smart phones is how you have to charge them every day, and "my battery is almost dead". They surely can fix that situation, get batteries that last longer than 12 hours, even if a person is on the internet, but I guess not. Not sure I even want to mess with something like that ...

CE I love how you have the floating hearts yellow flowers all mixed in with the Lilly's, they give a little burst of yellow with the pretty pink water lillys. Your pond plant's really look good this year!

I used to have a floating heart many years ago, but it did died over the winter in my pond. I think it is a zone 5 or 6....

I still didn't get my Water Fringe/Floating Hearts planted but they seem to be doing fine in the tub of water so far. Maybe I will do it today. Sure wish the sun would come out :alieneyesa:

I sort of ignore facebook, second email account loads into first. honey, puppy, life gets priority. The gpf gets my attention when watching the news, boring tv, too hot to be outside.

I must say I keep up on my family and extended family on FB, that's why I check it pretty often. I don't have hundreds of "friends", and some I don't even follow anymore.

CE, I have a droid max. It has 22 hours of talk time and is almost impossible to run batteries out in one day. All the newer phones have good battery life. It was a problem when smart phones first came out but not anymore. I guess you'll have to come up with another excuse why you don't want to read e-mails from your sisters. btw who uses e-mails to talk to friends and family? I thought everybody texts now! Even for work now. I finish my day by sending out a dozen or so texts to co-workers, clients, subcontractors etc. giving them updates on schedules and whatever else might be urgent for the next day.

I can do one FB post and all my friends and family see it. Or, our family does "group" e-mails to let each other know what's going on. For instance, my daughter just reported to everyone that she is going to have spinal surgery to remove the rods and screws that were put in there 3 years ago. Surgeon says it's time to take them out, no longer needed. What did we used to do when we only had telephones with a cord? I guess we called one person and had that person call a couple family members to get the word out. LOL
My kids both have Samsung smart phones, and they don't complain much, but seems like everyone else I know is always complaining that their phone is dead, or trying to plug them in. I only have to charge my "dumb" phone about once every 5-7 days, and I text a lot and talk some, too. LOL Yeah, some day I will get a smart phone, but until then, I'm happy with what I have.

In the real old days, phones had "party lines" ! I remember that! I also remember my very first phone number only had five numbers.... 7-1871! Boy were we mad when we had to add the 527-1871!! Now we have to add (403) 527-1871 and sadly no longer my home number!!
