Forgot to mention! The toad eggs that I moved to a shallow spot in the goldfish pond bog, hatched last night, or were starting to, but I thought they were all dead, didn't see anything swimming. Checked them again this morning, saw swimmers, tonight, all seem to be swimming, but staying close to where they were hatched. Maybe they eat the egg casings for their first meal. They are soooo teeny tiny, no way could I capture them with camera, unless I put them in a white cup or something, which I may try tomorrow a.m. At least they have a chance of surviving, unless the other frogs will possibly eat them.

Got the water hyacinths put in the goldfish pond last night, and made one netted ring, which is in the koi pond this morning full of WH. Made up 2 rings without netting so far for the goldfish pond, to keep them out of the skimmer, and definitely will need another ring. Will make at least one more netted ring tonight.

Check out the root systems these babies have! Some were literally 3' long. Extremely healthy. I just hope they stay that way and continue to multiply. Would love to be able to toss some into an open ring for the koi to munch on. :)

Here is the best pic I could get of the toad tadpoles. They are maybe 1/4" long now. Staying right next to the water ludwigia where I put the eggs, so that's nice that I can find them easily.

Geez CE where did you get those monster Hyacinth? They look great! I think I see a couple tads in that one photo.

I ordered the hyacinths from Ebay, bought 100 of them, which I know sounds crazy, but I figured half of them would die. Well, they are all doing really great so far, and I'm sure hoping they will grow and reproduce. The netting on the ring I put in the koi pond is trying to float, so think I'm going to put several rocks in it to keep it sunk below the ring.
Haro, you are very observant! I noticed it and was going to crop out my toes, but then thought, aw heck, who cares. :)
JW, the tadpoles are black, and you can see them pretty well next to the red leaves of the ludwigia. There are at least 5 in this pic. :) They are still doing fine tonight, too. There are about 10 of them at least in the same area where they were hatched. I assume sooner or later they will wander away, but I'm enjoying watching them for now.

Nice plants ce, I am skipping them this year. Found tads in my bog water when I was out pulling plants. Now have tads in every body of water out there. There are two or three frogs that are living in the lilies in the bog. Those day lilies are doing wonderful. All you hear are plops when you walk up to the pond, plop peep, plop peep lol or is it peep plop peep plop

Yesterday I finished the walls and covering up the liner on the top edge of the goldfish pond.

Then, remembered I had kept the bigger roots from the dig to use across the bog to make it look more natural. I like the effect it has, too! Really happy I kept them. Love the gnarled and kinked look roots have.

Was a hot weekend, yesterday was pretty wet, after 2" of rain Fri through Sat. night (24 hours). But, dry after that! Hoping to get another dry day, as I really need to mow tomorrow. :)

CE looks great, like the logs or roots that you have on your bog. I am big believer in drift wood to help make your area look natural. I did notice that you kept some of your bog plants in pots, may I ask why?

I did the same in the beginning to "control" the ones that spread, they spread anyways. Not sure if that is why she is doing it. The plants are easy to yank if they grow where you don't want them. All except the rush, that one has a massive root mass.

Actually, I goofed up and put ALL the plants in pots, then learned they were supposed to be bare root. So, most of them I removed from the pots, but some I left, like the canna bulbs and elephant ear plants, things that I will be removing for the winter. And, some I left until I found something that NEEDED to be in dirt, and then would swap it with the potted plant. :) I do need to get the rest of the cattails out of the dirt, though, and let them have at it!
And, I saw someone's very large bog ... can't remember whose it was, maybe Larkins??? ... that has a "river" running through the middle of the bog. I was going to leave it on the edge, but would rather have the pea gravel stacked up to hide the liner, so am going to steal That person's idea and have it look like a stream in the middle. I definitely want there to be standing water in part of the bog, and that way I can put plants in that water-standing area that want to be floating, like the parrots feather and water fringe. I have at least one piece that I can lay it a different direction so that it's laying on the top of the water, just in case I get lucky and get another red slider baby turtle this year. :)

While I was walking around with my coffee this morning (my favorite time of day!) I noticed that the Karly Rose Addy sent to me this spring, and I separated them carefully into 6 different plants, (since Addy said she only got one stem when she ordered it originally), 3 of the 6 plants have "flowers" on them!!! The wind was blowing, so was hard to get a clear shot, but here it is. The plant is only about 6" tall, but the flower is about 10" high. I was sooo excited!!! Love it! And, I promise to share some back with you, if you ever want more. :)

And, while I'm complimenting Addy, here are a couple of the mini lily plants. I love how tiny the leaves are. Wonder what color the blooms will be!!! Fun to wait and wonder ....

And, this is a tropical lily called Miami Rose. I thought maybe it was a mini, too, but looking it up, the leaves are much larger than the flowers, and the flowers boast "50 petals per flower", so it should be quite spectacular, when it gets old enough to bloom. The leaves right now are even smaller than the minis from Addy, and maybe 1.5" in diameter maximum. It's only about 6" underwater at this point, but I'll drop it deeper as it grows.

Glad the karly is growing well for you ce, it is a beautiful grass. Yep 7 bucks a plant one blade of grass...............I was shocked needless to say, but it made it and now I can share.

The lily is called .... Almost Black, a dark red hardy lily. I bought it as a start i.e. very tiny lily, last may
