Sissy I took your advice, everything is in my pond. In my other post I have a pic of a bust hose, just grateful it was in the pond. I have tied the hose to my rocks along the side of my pond. Scary to think about a pond losing so much water.my filters are inside the liner and flow back to my pond, but when a hose breaks or gets a crack in it .You can't predict sudden weather changes .We can be up in the 50's , 60's and 70's until Christmas .That is why now my pumps are tied to metal pipes across my pond .I used to have them tied down to a crate and as the koi got bigger they could knock intro things and it can turn into a horror show .I have had a pond since 2005 and grew up with a pond and things can happen .A hose can freeze up out side but I had indoor taps put in my basement .I am lucky I have well water but if I had city water I would be more concerned. You can't know a system well enough for every thing .I have had 2 dogs destroy liners and a mole chew my liner and could not ever to have expected that to happen
Just realized I had not responded to your question, sissy. My apologies! Anyway, you must be referring to the wisteria vine by the sheet of plywood. That is actually not a viewing direction we can use from the other side. Rather, that will be the backdrop behind the waterfall. Indeed, I hope to train the wisteria to fill in that "hole" back behind the spot where the plywood is now. We'll be looking at the pond from the same view as that photo, which was taken from our deck, right where we sit during nice evenings. The other view will be from inside the bow window of our house, which is to the right of that view.are you going to cut back that shrub near the deck so you can see the pond better
Thanks so much, JW. I've been worried to death that I would screw this up. The local pond builder whom I paid to make my first pond went away. I contacted a 2nd pond specialist, and his price was really high. But then he decided to stop building ponds at all, switching to selling supplies only. So I decided to do it myself. But that liner and other supplies were really expensive, so I've been paranoid that I would do something wrong, and end up with another leaking liner. THAT was what I was most worried about. I went out of state for a few days, and my sprained ankle just kept getting worse. Finally went to Dr and was ordered to stay OFF of it. So now I'm finally back on my pond project. I've made lots more progress, and will try to post some new photos this evening when I am home from work.@Lump Wow what a thread! I just read the whole thing and it's amazing! And a Fort Knox from rodents getting thru the sides and bottom. You have really put a lot of thought and work and muscle into this pond and I'm sure it will turn out to be one heck of a beautiful one! Can't wait to see more.
Wisteria does spread, for sure. But ours is confined behind retaining wall and our deck. We mow shoots when they come out from under the deck, and my wife seems to actually enjoy cutting off all new shoots as the grow (the tender shoots are favorites of Japanese beetles, so she keeps them trimmed away, so the shoots don't attract the bugs to her nearby roses.) Our wisteria has been there about 20 years, with no serious expansion from its original location. Here wisteria is very invasive and the roots spread so fast .It is great it covers the under side of the deck .
