Yes you are #17 in the trap, # 18 & 19 looking at it. Both young slender snakes. Big fatty not caught yet. I ordered another minnow trap. 2 will be set up 24/7 unless we are not home.

Big fatty will be #20, maybe.

This was my broken wrist arm, way more pain than my rt arm surgery, the knockout drugs hit me hard, out of it all day. Last time it was almost a nothing.

But recovering slowly.

Snake in bucket, #17 thought it was dead, but we must have given it air at right moment very much alive. Still in trap till I can function enough to relocate.

This snake invasion sucks.

Is there some sort of snake catching company you could call that would come out and nab all of them in one go? I suppose the problem would be that more could be lurking elsewhere in the system, just waiting for a "snake vacuum" that they could fill.

I think the mouth is just open. It has a white mouth.

My problem is the up slope rock wall. 27 feet long, 4 feet high. Bet there is a den in there, or along the 85 ft stream with a ton of rocks.

A company would charge a lot and just do what i am doing, trapping.

Makes sense. Also, a company probably wouldn't have the motivation to keep after it, day after day. But yeesh, what a prolific lot they are!

Makes me wonder how they survive in nature; do they simply eat out a pond and move along to the next one? I can't imagine there being enough food in a small space for so many of them, so presumably they either migrate elsewhere or hunker down and wait for the next generation of fish to be born from whatever eggs they left over.

I wonder what would happen if you just removed all the fish. Would they decide the pond's played out and move on? Would they start eating each other? Or would there be enough other wildlife there to support a whole population of the little buggers?

They main diet aquatic critters, fish frogs etc, but will eat small land critters.

If the pond was empty they would move on. No way to empty,drain and I need months to get our acidic well water back to fish safe. It took, on a well, about a month to fill. Being careful with our well.
