Why you shouldnt salt a pond 365 days a year

One thin dp should have added, is it also is less effective against certain parasites if salt is used 365 it has been shown that a resistance has been built up in a number of types of parasite namely those of Gyrodactylus (skin flukes), Dactylogyrus (Gill flukes) as well as Trichodina as previously stated at the start of this thread .
So salt should be kept for short term salt baths and QT fasilities only .

I get the parasite thing, the freezing thing is a little silly. The amount of salt per volume would need to be excessive to prevent freezing. You would need 50 ppt around my area to prevent that.
last year we had 7.5 ft of frost and -40 degrees. I didn't loose a fish or use a heater. (No salt)

I see a lot of folks with limestone for their waterfalls and boarders, should this be a concern?
