I thought about some of those frosted or clear fiberglass roofing panels. Making the frame would be a (e-mail address removed) to do tho....I still have my pump running. In fact I put in my new 5100 gph pump today.

How about those clear plastic cellar window well covers? You could put two of them back to back and silicone them together along with a couple of small bolts. Set them over a creek or stream bed. They usually have a 3/8" - 1/2" flat edges that could be spiked into the ground. Or you could use tent stakes, one on each side and use a heavy duty bungee cord across to hold them down. Or just use some baling twine. One pair should cover about a 3' length of stream. They would stack together for summertime storage.

Somthing like these: http://www.acehardware.com/family/index.jsp?categoryId=1259580

about the last week in October, my stream, aqueduct and canal system became clogged with autumn foliage so I shut it down but left water in the pond and canal (but not aqueduct) so that my frogs can overwinter in the silt below, where I'm assuming they're at (maybe someone can tell me). I look forward to seeing the frogs and tree frogs next spring!

Oh, the reason I shut it down is b/c the leaves were clogging the very small outlets that move the waterways from one system to the next and most of the system has trees over it (for shade as it gets darned hot in summer here!)

Those cellar window wells would work but they are not cheap .I have 2 really large ones I bought at a house auction for 10 dollars .I use them now to keep my firewood dry .I thought they may have been wide enough to go over my pond when I bought the 6 years ago but they were about 6 inches to small and did not want to fuss with them to make them fit .

Cheap can be relative. If they last a long time they become cheaper. 6 years at $10.00 is a pretty good value!! That's about 1.20 a year!

It looks like they normally average 25.00 apiece new, so $50.00 per 3ft of stream. Say 15' of stream = $250.00. But if they last ten years that's about $25 a year to cover 15'. Not a bad value. Not as good a value as your deal though!!!!
