My favourite is 'Bill'.. my Avatar pic, Bought him 18 months ago. 30cm long, and the most expensive fish in the pond, so the Mrs named him after Bill Gates. He's quite tame, and if you dangle your feet in the water he likes to bite peoples toes.

We have 3 koi in our pond. My favorite is the biggest one. He is very elusive and loves hiding wherever he can in the pond, so I rarely see him (especially now when the pond is iced over)... but when he comes out, he gets really active and swims all over the pond. He's a gorgeous bright orange with just a little bit of black and white mixed in.

We lost our favorite to the heron last year. It was a comet with a deformed tail that was one of the offspring of the original fish I started with. He was 6 years old and his tail had three fins that formed a triangle and my kids named him Propeller. Stupid bird.

Mine is the one in my profile pic. German scaleless pure white. I hate winter, my kids named it Snow. :-/
Here it is. Still trying to figure out if it's make or female. :)

This looked like an interesting thread to revive.... .

I agree, while the board is so slow, why not share some pics of our favorite (s)
This is my favorite koi, his name is Squalo (Italian for shark) he just turned 5 this Fall
He's not very colorful but he rules the pond! I love everything about him!
I was afraid that he'd lose the swirls with age, but he hasn't changed at all, just got larger
Pics are from last year

@Jimmy Gibson I think Petey is a beautiful butterfly, how old is he?
My butterfly koi are going through the "Puppy Ugly" where the body grows way too fast for the fins to keep up, but in a few years, when they slow down growing and grow more fins they'll go back being as beautiful as they were when they were 6-9 inches long

Gemma. Great idea to revive this thread. It's interesting that it goes all the way back to 2010. My favorite old fish is still my sarasa comet that I liked in 2014. That fish has been through a lot with me including multiple pond rebuilds, moving, and everything else going on the last 8 years. My Lemon Hariwake is my new favorite fish. The comet is on the far left upper part, and you can't miss the Hariwake because it wants to be in every pic!

My favorites are my 12 year old comet, one of the remaining three musketeers (who use to be all orange and is slowly turning white), and my 11 year old koi, peachy keen, aka, scar face.

I have you to thank, I wouldn't have seen it if you hadn't revived it first!
I think this thread is one of those threads that should be revived every once in a while! It gives new members a chance to post their favorites, and existing members can post updates
Your Hariwake is beautiful! ...I wouldn't even bother finishing the top of the pond since you're gonna want to dig it deeper
@cas lol the first picture looks right in theme with Halloween!

I look at the pics I posted ...I seriously need to take better pictures!
