I don’t like animals today! Grrrr. Ziggy knocked dads radio into the mini pond as I was trying to fill it, he’s been totally under foot, trying to eat the bog plants, check out the pond, and then that. But I discovered a leak, possibly from the radio falling in, possibly from when I separated the liner from the rust. Getting it drained, and saw my stove mouse on the stove. I want to feed that one to the cats! It lives in the stove, is too darn smart, avoids every trap I’ve put out, even ate the top of one trap just to taunt me. It avoids the cats, I’ve caught it trying to remove the steel wool I have blocking it’s easy access in the top of the stove. Gah! I need a better trap. I won’t do poison because that could cause it to either die where I wouldn’t be able to retrieve the body, or die where a cat would eat it.

YEP, looks like we are going to just get a new liner, plus a sheet of plywood as cat proof siding, just in case. So yeah. I’m still awake now coming up on 19 hours, it’ll be more than 23 by the time we get this done.

Have you tried the glue traps? A little peanut butter and bird seed for bait.
Yeah, I’ve tried them, it jumps over the flat ones, so I tried the box kind and it chewed up the top of it. Just got home with new liner and a sheet of plywood. Will be cutting plywood to cover the sides of the frame, which will also prevent the unsightly “muffin top bulges” along the bottom edge of the frame.

Only till I kill it. No mercy for that one. I’ve caught others and tossed them outside, but after years of fighting the furry little things, I no longer use live traps which could allow them to return later to eat more of my stuff. Now I do good snap traps where cats don’t go, glue traps where cants can’t go, and cats where they will go! In fact, newest rescue kitty is doing her best to catch “ too smart for my taste 2.0) in my bedroom. Luckily the cheeky one that would tug the blanket us gone, this one just annoys me and avoids traps.

Sounds like its time for some night vision and a shot gun. Take the critters out before they get in .

No, that’s where I reduce the cats feed till they start hunting. But they enjoy dog food anyway, so it’s the dogs that go hungry... I just need to entice the cats to hunt the mice.

Plywood is now in the frame. Very, very snug fit. As in, that last piece was hammered in, leaving splinters behind. So my method of staining and sealing will involve masking tape, and prayers to the pond gods. I’ll leave vacuuming up the splinters and dust for tomorrow, along with the liner.

It was more time to break out the big guns when they get out of control.

Apparently I lied. I couldn’t help it, the liner was calling me, then I had to just get it in place, then screwed down, now the bog is on top and the rock is in.

My yards a jungle, Johnson grass is taller than I am due to mower issues, weather no cooperating, and a severe case of procrastination that it now needs to be turned into hay or something.

I’m up, waiting on coffee so I can take my nsaids, cause whoo boy, I’m sore. I think I’ll just run the hose in to fill the pond. I don’t feel like hauling buckets of room temp water, I’ll use the hose and just let it warm up on it’s own. I may go get some mint to add to the bog. And I need to trim the board over the top of the pond because yep, it’s now a cat perch.

Bog box isn’t good, I’ve got a small leak on the end , and apparently I need to redo the hose portion or maybe just the holes, it’s not flowing, barely filling.

It’s up! Still have a small leak, need to find the cause, but it’s done, other than adding more water and finding ways to reduce the noise of the water fall. Very very noisy, partially due to not being full, partially due to the length of the fall.
