Yellow Jackets have very bad attitudes and they can both bite and sting.
Found this on the net:
What is the difference between a yellow jacket bite and a yellow jacket sting and for a bite what should be done?

Yes yellow jackets do bite and sting. The sting maybe initially more painful but the bite has potential for real problems also. If you are allergic to the sting then you will have an allergic reaction possibly with breathing issues which require swift medical attention. The bite which can be painful can cause it's own problems.
Yellow jackets are scavengers that eat just about anything. You see them on animal carcasses, around trash cans, rotten food etc. This often means their mouths are covered in bacteria. So when they bite you you could be in for a nasty infection. So if the bite site gets worse over a couple of days you should seek medical attention, especially if there is any significant swelling or streaking indicating infection.
So if you are bit or stung, wash the site with soap and water and keep your eye on it.

We just started another wood cutting project. So much wood! My hubby cuts and I roll it away, then we will load up the rounds, take home and split and stack in the woodshed. There are many more stacks of trees laying all over on this property. The guy who lives here is giving it to us for free.

The hike from atop the mountain where few have ever been No trails, Mine property , and home to the black bear . i did find some amazing things on the hike one was two nests one was black and white warbler the other was a wren and it's babies. Then there was the most colorful fungus i had ever seen and of course the very fresh dung from the bears.

short of a wood boring bee, yellow jackets are second in line for being aggressive and nasty

The worst sting I got from one of those suckers was when I was living in Michigan. Laying out in a lawn chair I felt a tickle between my big toe and the next one. I wiggled my toes and whamo, pain and agony and saw the yellow jacket stuck between my toes. He kept stinging and my foot swelled up something awful for a couple days. Since then all the bites have been pretty mild.

In the feet that's not right. Between the toes i can't even imagine.
My worst is a fight for number one but i guess the worst was not yellow jackets but the wasp that looks like a yellow jacket but it is black with yellow stripes and flies with it's rear legs hanging as it is a wasp and what i found out from the ER that those little suckers have one of the strongest stings. and my luck i was repairing someones soffit on their home and i was sitting on a 12 foot double sided step ladder" Not exactly Osha approved" and i ripped off the facia board and i ripped open a hive. The little buggers came after me and Ii got stung 3 times in the neck two on my shoulder. I PUSHED OFF THE HOUSE AND WENT OVER BACKWARDS TO GET AWAY ... well it seemed like a good idea at the time! clocked my head pretty good on the ground and by the time I got to the hospital they never even asked me for insurance. They took one look at me asked what happened and I was getting a couple shots of Adrenalin. Seems i was having an allergic reaction which the Dr latter said anyone who gets hit 5 times by them would be seeing his bed side manor.

Remind me to never mess w/those wasp creatures @GBBUDD ! I see them flying around here once in awhile but so far they haven't bothered me. Are those the longer bodied ones w/the skinny waist?
I just did a search and I think what we have here are not Yellow Jackets but are Paper Wasps cuz the nests ours make have holes like in this photo below. They say these are not as wicked in attacking as the Yellow Jackets. The one that got my toe in Michigan could have been a Yellow Jacket.

Today I’m frustrated. Need to get laundry done, found that a cat peed on the pike waiting to be put away, my Grimm is being a butt about wanting to go out, but I can’t risk that with the bobcat fever. Plus 5 kittens thinking they need my attention now, and momma dog isn’t feeding her pups well, so I was woken to the sounds of upset pups, I ended up mixing some kitty milk and feeding them via syringe, to their dismay. Dad had to go to town, so I asked him to get puppy replacement milk and some bottles. The guys can help feed pups. On a good note, the pups eyes are just starting to open!

So funny thing here. We’ve got the 9 pups in the living room, where it’s carpeted for moms three legs so she doesn’t slide on linoleum. Noted last night that the pups sound like they are meowing. Then this morning the kittens were making puppy sounds. Umm... I didn’t plan on teaching them to speak each other’s language! Looks like I’ll be raising cat friendly dogs, and I already raise dog friendly cats, but they might end up multi species fluent!
