Lol jw, just found the exact same tree, same size in my yard on the slope. So will move it see how well it does.

How big is the one you found addy? It said they don't grow wild around here so somebody not too far must have planted one from a nursery or some squirrel did some serious traveling!

Glad you saved it as now we can watch them grow together providing they make the transplant. You gonna transplant yours now or wait till fall when the rains will keep it watered better? Think I shall wait till fall.

I will probably move it, the seedling is tucked under one of my spruce trees. It does not have much room or light there.

Our Scout Master (Boy Scouts) is a botonist, works for the LSU ag center locally, and can ID anything and everything. I'll try to remember to take the iPad to our next troop meeting and show him the pic.

And to clarify, JW, is that Arlington, WA as in WA state, or the D.C. Washington (geography was never my strong suit.... sorry!)?

TM I'm in Washington state and nope it's not a saw tooth oak. The leaf really looks closest to the Red Oak tree's leaf but still not sure. That would be great if you could ask your Scout Master!
