What is the correct way to build a bog?

FInally! I actually made quite a bit of progress and I am almost finished! I just need to finish the wood trim for the bog, put in plants around the stream, and fill the bog up with pea gravel.

Any input is welcome as always!


The bog is 8 ft x 2.5 ft x 1.5 ft for a total of about 225 gallons of capacity, it is 18% of the Ponds surface area.

My water is finally crystal clear! Thank you everyone for all your help! I will continue to work on my bog and improve it but I am very happy with how everything turned out so far! Perfect timing too, water temperatures finally dropped low enough that the fish are no longer active and keep only to the bottom. If my water was still green, I would have thought my fish disappeared haha.
