My concern with using wood is that is expands/swells when it gets wet and shrinks and warps when it dries out. I think all joints would separate with changing conditions in weather and moisture. I would only use wood if you were using a liner inside.

thats true with anything you build with and they say composite does not shrink and believe me it does .I know from my deck off my morning room .I decided to go with trex because it stays cooler underfoot and my dogs toes would fry in the heat of the summer .Well in 3 years I had to add 2 deck boards as the gap they say should be there got to big for the chihuahua's toes and they also say the color does not fade ,not true either ..I tried another brand of composite on other deck and so far it is good but only been a year .This kind has a lip and goes together just like click and lock flooring and has air tunnels and stays cooler underfoot than the trex does .I guess with improvement it will get better .I may try it on the bridge over my pond and see what happens .

quite agree with above, except used on smaller projects, could work, BUT, you need to glue and screw every 4 to 6" to be sure of strength and stability.
