Addy, your kH is actually kind of low to act as a really effective pH buffer. I always shoot for 150 or higher. Maybe that's just me. Maybe you could find some calcium carbonate cheap somewhere, that seems to bring the kH up without affecting pH.

Thanks, I am not a testing of the water guro, as i think you all can tell, lol, actually never tested a pond. The little kit said was in a ok range, so thought it was ok lol.

I will be looking for some calcium carbonate, I heard oyster shells crushed work. I also heard feed stores carry it, just have not had time to find it. We are heading south to help out his parents again, so on top of list when we get back.

Must have had tough fish, or by luck healthy ponds...............

Fish are tough, and bigger ponds seem to do better, even on their own.

Addy, was your KH 89.5? Was that 5 drops? If so this is what my aquarium has been for years and is very stable. My pond is also 5.

5 drops for the KH
3 drops for the GH

Your KH is the same as mine.. your GH is low or soft, but probably not as important.

Thanks, we just got back from fl, the pond has done well with ph, everything else stable. Finally starting to cool down here a little.
