Water is now brown, what next?

You might want to scoop the bottom with a net. I found a dead squirrel in my pond, and others have reported finding dead critters!

How do you recommend scooping the bottom?

Stand on the edge of pond w/very long handled net, reach way down and push or pull net and lift and dump. Watch for fish in the net tho. Can be time consuming depending on how much gunk you have on the pond bottom.

Thanks. My pool skimmer net is probably not adequate for the job. Will have to get one similar to yours.
