@ Capewind - PH was 9. This kit test Ph, Ammonia, Nitrite and Phosphate. Doesn't test KH, what is that and I am assuming I need to get that test as well.

Check out this link ... there is a product drop down menu ... you want the one that says "Hardness, GH & KH Freshwater" $9.95 with free shipping. I ordered from this seller a few months ago, and it came pretty quick.
There are a couple of really good conversations in the forum about KH ,.. I just finally got it straight in my head a few months ago thanks to a very patient group member. The short answer is it acts as a buffer and will prevent PH swings or crashes ...

How does rain affect pond chem? I think we got light rain twice in the first 3 weeks of having the pond up, but it has rained the last 3 days. Thursday was steady almost all day.
Depending on the PH of your rain, it can potentially lower your PH in the pond, but it would take a good deal of rain to make an impact, Honestly, I wouldnt worry much here right now. Learn about the tests you need to be doing first. If you have a heavy rain, do a test the next day and check your results BUT if you notice a slight dip in your PH, do NOT panic and buy something to raise the PH, as that would be a disaster in the making. I dont want to discourage you from learning about every topic you can, but if you hit too many topics at once, it may be information overload. Get comfortable with the basics, and do more research as you become comfortable ... as you have more questions, just post to the forum, and the members here will help you ...
