Hi All,

I'm starting to research and plan my first project - a wading pool with waterfall for use by my dogs.

I'm envisioning 3 waterfalls from a height of 3-3.5' and a broad wading pool about 6'x5'.

I've figured out so far that I will need the following:

Sand
Liner
Pump - 2400 gph
Fittings, Flexible PVC, teflon tape
River rock pebbles for the wading pool
Medium and Large River rock for the edging and sides

So far, I've got that I need 2" of sand under the liner and about 3" of river rock to cover the liner and protect from paws. I plan for the water depth to be about 7". I plan to place the pump under the water off to the side. I was told I don't need a filter??

Am I missing anything?
What brand pump should I be looking at?

Thanks in advance for your help.

I would have a leaf basket either on the pump or before the pump to protect it from the stuff the pups will drag in.

Welcome to the forum.
As long as you don't plan on fish, the rocks may not give you too much trouble for the first few years. Eventually, the muck in the bottom under the rocks will get septic.

If you could build a simple drum filter behind or around the falls it would help keep the water cleaner
It sounds bigger than a water bowl you just dump out

a 2400 gph pump?...i would opt for a Laguna...low energy consumption and 4 year warranty..... no fish? no plants? then a filter wouldnt be neccessary...but wouldnt hurt, at least a skimmer.

I'd like to do plants. The plan is after the first drop off to create a stream with an offset area of low flow for plants. But none in the "pool." Definitely no fish. I'll keep those inside
