so ami right? this doesn't actually aeriate the water in the pond. ie put bubbles into the water. it aeriates the water on its way to the filter box,

it aerates the water in the pipe that then goes to your filter and in to the pond so the whole pond get aerated. now I'm sure that this wouldn't be enough for a pond so you still need a air pump.

Suitable only for a pressure pump input, and ideal for connecting to the outlet/return on gravity fed filter systems the venturi unit is a well establish and highly efficient device for improving oxygen saturation levels. The sound constructed Cloverleaf Venturi is engineered to offer the hobbyist the facility of swopping between the two different cones as supplied, and thus provide greater control over distribution.

(Where desired the Venturi can of course be run from a separate dedicated submersible pressure pump)[/I][/I][/I][/I]

I notice there is a great deal of focus on aeration all over this forum. The article link Mikeytoo put up has a good deal of useful info on how aerators work. It's a little sketchy on the "supersaturation" concern. One thing, is water at 100% saturation is about 9ppm O2, give or take. You can have an oversized air pump with several diffusers and air stones going, but your O2 will not really get above 9ppm. The only way to supersaturate is by plants. With plants there is also this concern of using CO2 when it's night time. Truth is that the O2 level wont go any or very much lower then a pond with no plants with or without an air pump. The thing that most effects O2 depletion is the overstocking of fish. Good water flow through out the entire pond with a waterfall or fountain is all you should need for good O2 levels. You need something to get the water not only moving around the top surface, but something to move water from the lower levels to the top. A bottom drain with a waterfall should be enough. An adequate sized pump for circulation set low in the pond will also work. There are other factors, just remember too much of anything isn't always good, but too much Guinness is not enough!
The only way to be sure about O2 levels is a test, but it's hard to get samples from the lower depths. The other way is if you see your fish at the surface gasping for air, if that happens, like I said before, you probably have too big of fish load for your water volume.

LOL! Agreed! There was next to no info about the product and what was there was plain ol' useless.

Thanks, with what you said, going to skip the venturi, we will have waterfalls, and good water circulation.
